Campaign Ad Watch: Strickland's 'New Plan' ad | The Columbus Dispatch

Full story: Columbus Dispatch

Video: Set to ominous music, the ad opens with an unflattering photo of Republican gubernatorial nominee John Kasich facing the headquarters building of now-defunct Lehman Brothers, which employed Kasich as a Columbus-based managing director for nine years.

Take a few minutes and for once, stop listening to BS ads and look up Kasichs records in congress. He sided with and against members of both parties and feared neither. And all of it was for the good of this country.

I don't see how this ad was misleading at all. Kasich DID vote to outsource jobs, and he has publicly stated that he has no problem outsourcing or privatizing most if not all of the state government jobs. True, there is no proof that Kasich made millions on Wall Street, but only because Kasich refuses to release that information. If I were a betting man, I'd bet that he made well over a million dollars at Lehman Brothers. As for the part about not disclosing bonuses, it may have been a joke, but I'm not laughing. He may think it's funny to joke about giving my tax dollars to fatcat executives instead of teachers, police officers, and people struggling with poverty and unemployment, but I sure as hell don't. I for one can't grasp the level of stupidity and self-loathing that would lead working people to vote in favor of a for-profit privatized government. If you think you're getting screwed now -- just wait, Ohio. Just wait.

Kaisch Chaired the House Budget Committee that developed the Federal Balanced Budget which was praised and signed by Democrat President Bill Clinton.

Kasich developed and created the bi-partisan Welfare Reform Act which was praised by Democrats and Republican alike as significant successful legislation that assists people to get jobs. Again, Highly Praise and signed into law by Democrat President Bill Clinton.

What exactly are Ted Stricklands accomplishments?

All talk, no Action.

As a State employee I fear Kaisch, he will balance the budget at what cost? I know it's going to cost me my job, then what do I do? Kaisch is looking to privatizing the Prisons, Turn Pike and the Lottery. So all those state employee lose there jobs, oh wait they can get new jobs at about half the rate of pay, no benefits and no retirement, SOUNDS GREAT, but the budget will be settled. Oh, yea, when he sales off everything, the STATE will get pennys on the dollar, YES PENNYS. So when you there is no money going to the schools from the Lottery (800 million per year) and the prisons are ran by the people inside, then what. But Kaisch will have balanced the budget, all the state employee now can get welfare and live the American Dream. Unemployeed, on welfare and have no medical benefits.

This was an interesting bit of distortion by Hallett:

"The claim that Kasich "outsourced our jobs" is based on his 1993 vote as a member of Congress for the North American Free Trade Agreement. Although the Strickland campaign cites a report that NAFTA cost Ohio 49,886 jobs between 1993 and 2004, Strickland himself has bragged about the number of jobs created in Ohio by exports."

Um, Joe, how are outsourced jobs the same as exports? How would Ohio make money from "exported jobs" in any event?

Let's not forget who Joe works for here, or who they've endorsed for Governor. Take this "analysis" with a grain of salt.

Yes, maybe now you will be paid what you are worth. Not unlike those of us in the private sector.

Silly ad...too bad most ads (dems and repubs) are based on half truths. Fact is, we need a change. Strickland is doing nothing and fabricating his defenses by twisting facts. Look at the public payrolls on the internet, compare current salaries against the last couple of years...there are raises and some are wayyyyyy out of line. Stop the BS. If Kasich can't do the job, we'll be on his tail. NO MORE EXCUSES !

This just in...Strickland is going to announce that school administration staffing levels statewide will be cut by 80% and that the teachers unions will forfeit to the state 80% of their present pension value and refuse to accept any future contributions on their behalf. Union officials who are planning on attending the announcement have indicated privately that they will demand an 80% reduction in dues which also will be put into the states' education funding mechanisms as well as refunding back to teachers 93% of all dues it has collected in the past 40 years.

Not to be outdone, the Kasich campaign announded that John would betray his ex-bankster pals on Wall St. by unearthing ALL of the frauds behind the mortgage document frauds that cratered the economy and not merely enact moratoria on all foreclosures but decree a debt repayment moratoria on ALL debts held by Ohioans! In his "Come to Heysous" moment, Kasich promised to expose ALL of the financial frauds and cheats that Wall St. used to content itself with prior to learning that they could loot the Treasury by the $Trillions...When pressed by reporters if debts to drug dealers would qualify for the debt forgiveness, Kasich indicated that he would have to ask "The Outfit" from Chicago if that would fly.

Strickland's plan is exciting and doable. Too bad he'll be leaving office before its completion.

Kasich's plan has reached completion: Bawney Fwank/Chwis Dodd

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
