LEAR CARLISLE,LOTSA RUMORS NOTHING DEFINITE.CORP ORDERED EQUIP. TO BE TORN OUT STARTING TODAY,NO EXPLANATION

I think Lear in Carlisle has seen its better days. Management claims they don't know where the machines are going. Heard GM is coming in to have all there machinery ,that was put in last year, taken out. So I guess time will tell. I think we have a right to know what is going on.

I work in the Sidney, Ohio plant. We have been so slow, a ton of people going home every shift. They told us a few months ago, their would be a permanent layoff of up to 80 people at the end of the year. With this Bad News from Ford yesterday, its probably going to be worse than that, and sooner. Please keep me updated as to what's going on at Carlisle, we get our carpet from there. Best of Luck with your jobs everybody.

How many people are employed at the sidney plant. I think the Carlisle plant has about 400, for now anyways. No one at our plant will tell us anything. We too have been having short work weeks. With the announcement that Ford made yesterday I don't think that is good news for any of us. have you been told any thing about Wilbur Ross being interested in the North America business?
Close to 400. Ross or his people (I can't remember) was in our shop earlier this year. Not much said about the deal lately. Just from what I have read on the net, he wanted Collins and Aikman, he got them oversea's but looks like C/A in North America is putting up a fight. During shutdown, they put in a new floor in the isleways in our shop, they did a little remodeling here and there. What that means, I don't know.

tour rescheduled for friday 9/1/06

We had a meeting today. They said something should be decided in 30-60 days on the Lear/Ross deal. Lines are going to be up and down for the rest of the year (some weeks very few will be working). We should know 3-4 weeks if we get the Chrysler job (4 lines, 60 people). If we don't get that business to replace lines that are leaving in the next 8 months, there will be layoffs. We did get a new Toyota job (dash insulator), they are hoping that leads to more.

Tour canceled to this week. Did Corp. talk to the Sidney plant about pay concessions?

They haven't talked to us about anything yet. You can check out this board too...

Hi Kasey haven't seen ya on here in awhile. We haven't heard anything in Carlisle. They don't tell us anything. I see where Ford is closing 2 more plants. So you guys had a few mgt. people quit? I mdid rad that on the other board. Keep us posted we will do the same.

On the pay cut, I heard they asked a couple months ago but our Union leaders said no. Thats just the rumor on the floor, don't know if its the truth.
If one plant takes concessions, we are doomed. They will be pitting us against each other. Nothing has changed at the Sidney Plant yet, we are just waiting for the bomb to drop. Someone at work told me about that other board, I was surprised when I read it, I hadn't heard the rumor that they were going to re-open our contract. Our HR head and the guy who was in charge of materials left, I will ask around to see who else bailed. What are you guys hearing about the Sidney Plant closing? |
Nothing but rumors on the Sidney plant. I know it is easier said than done but try not to worry about it. We feel that they already have their minds made up about our fate. We are all in this together. When corp. talked to our union about concessions they made it impossible for us to talk further. At least 5.50 and hr cut. Does that sound like they wanted to talk more. Freezing the raise or paying more for benefits is one thing but at least 5.50 an hr.cut. Does that sound like they wanted to negotitate? keep us posted

Ive heard that 5-6 supervisors and schulding walked out last week .We have started to run hot carpet for the Sidney plant because we were told things are getting a mess there.Any truth to the rumor?
5-6 people from which plant, Carlisle or Sidney? We have been having a bunch of trouble with separation and bald spots. Lines have been down waiting on carpet. One good thing, gas prices are down, that will help some. |
