They closed the line early last night and sent everyone home saying they would call when they need them to come back. Don't know what that's supposed to mean. Said don't have a job. Just playing games since we don't have a contract.

bros and sis ..you well know what time it is ..gm filed bkrptcy and so did lear..did you think by slowing down production that you would hurt them.. the bottom line is someone will do the job and lear is not going to let 500 people ruin the relationship they have with arlington assembly .they knew when you all voted down the contract they had to go to plan b..they locked you all out and now all the union can say is show up anyway..please..see if they pay your bills on the first of the month..they are full of sh!! and out for themselves as always..brush up on your skills becuz it looks like you might need to find a new job.. didnt the int'l rep tell you !! we all have had to take concessions ..none of us like it but they are not our companies (gm or lear) its hard out here and believe you me the haters are waiting on our jobs . so when and if you get back on the job do it or stay home!!

What is it exactly the union could not agree to? This is an unfortunate turn of events. Lear is sending every corporate person they can to keep the plant running. They are not hiring local people.......yet. Everything is tight everywhere, Lear cannot afford to shutdown G.M. Lear is currently operating " by all means neccesary" and will do whatever it takes to keep that production moving. I am disappointed the union is unable to do the same, that is why it is out in the street.

Way to go 'union sista' and 'Teh_Blues'! Local temps haven't be called in. Lear EMPLOYEES from around the country left their families indefinitely with less than 12 hrs notice to help keep Lear from losing their GM business...and they are not getting paid OT, nor a bonus for their efforts & sacrifice. They are not complaining. They are just Lear employees who do not want to see their EMPLOYER fail. They have all taken pay cuts, struggled through temporary layoffs & are getting less benefits year after year; they are putting in 12-20 hour days with no reward other than to hopefully save their jobs and the thousands of others across the country. This economy is hard; everyone must make sacrifices and those working in Arlington right now know & understand that. It is a shame that the UAW leaders cannot.

I am now hearing that they do have temps in there along with the corporate people, and they are meeting production They are being trained and doing the best they can. I also hear that the union workers are getting well over $20 dollars an hour, and would not take concessions. No wonder the industry is in trouble. That is not sustainable and they need to get realistic.

Yes there are temps working there. It's being reported on the news. The temps are coming in from PDQ temporaries. Get your facts straight concerned before you say there are not temps there.

I hope the scabs produce with better quality, are more productive, and end up displacing the greedy UAW members who decided to play hard ball with a bankrupt company. The UAW needs a serious attitude adjustment and I commend Lear for taking a stand.

"union brother", yes, there are some temps there. What is not "reported on the news" is that MANY are Lear employees from WHQ & other divisions. The press prints that their sources are union-reps & Lear has made no comment (nor should they have to). Kudos to them for making sacrifices to help to keep Lear in business with GM. Too bad the entire country doesn't have the same loyalty & work ethic as these men & women.

They are union reps they are speaking to as I know the people that are on the news and the people quoted in the paper. Also, it is illegal for Lear to be doing what they are doing per the union contract. As far as the temps that are working there, they have about 300 there today. There are going to be additional there tomorrow. We are going to hang in there just like local 218 is (Bell Helicopter)

I dont agree with the decision of the union leadership, to influence the employees to slow down but, i understand. Over the past eight years we the people of United states, have been paying for the mistakes of the CEO's and FEO's.We have been giving in and making recessions for years now. I beleive we must make a stand at some point. If you dont stand for something your fall for anything. The employees at Lear Arlington are making that stand now. I understand about helping the company succeed but, the employees at lear arlington helped make that plant what it is today. Dont just take everything that we have earned, like our 3wks vacation. They want to cut it to 2 wks, no raise for 5 yrs. I understand business is business but, give us something. Dont just take everything. Sure Lear dont want to lose GM as a customer, and they will do what is nessasary to keep them happy but dont screw the people over that, helped you get where your at, and thats all the employees at lear are saying. We are willing to be inconvenince and make a stance. Somebody gotta do it. I guess we will see what happens.
