What is going on with all the customer rejects we
have been getting for the last several months?
I can say that the training in our plant s'-2s,
especially in the molding department. We have
a lot of new molders who don't have a clue what
to do.Who's job is it to train? I thought it was
suppose to be utility, but they will tell you get
somebody to show you.I should clarify we do have
some great utility people that go way beyond.
I could go on but I would to hear some feedback
on your thoughts and suggestions. We need to work
together if we want to keep our JOBS.

I work 3rd and know what you mean. Quality standards change and even us old timers screw up, let alone all the new blood. I hear we are getting more molding machines and business. Who should / how should this be addressed before it runs us out of Mendon?

Tell the foreman you need to be trained better. You should never do a job if you're not sure of it. And if he doesn't help you, go to Nichols. Make sure the press is running within the parameters, not way too fast like some are. But you should never ever run a press if you have not been properly trained. AND if you don't like the part, call the inspector, if they OK it, have them sign off on it. You should also document everything just in case they come back on you. Just some ideas I've been using.

I think that as adults we should all be responsible for our own actions. I think that the union should make their members accept accountability. Our union becomes weak because of the message that is sent when they are constantly being protected even though they are repeatedly abusing the rules of conduct. When they get in trouble they want to yell harassment even though they themselves are guilty of harassing and bullying coworkers until they voluntarily leave or are disqualified simply because management doesn't want to deal with it. We as a union are getting a bad rap because of a few bad apples!

Disgusted in Mendon I applaud your comments.

It is about time someone said it around here. I hate the negativity towards the new supervisor and management. They are new, like we were back when. Maybe they have better ideas that will protect our future as a company and employee. My money is on the new people along with the same "old" talented engineering (the ones left are great)..one new is odd, but maybe it is just me (maybe it is his odd name)...and the management guys/gals...who haven't left us...are classy people. Everyone I have met is smart and can actually relate to me as a person who has a job like theirs.

My job is to do the best I can for this company and my fellow union clan. Why not hop on the bandwagon with both feet..what have you got to lose? I am hopping on and riding until they prove incapable to me. I get tired of listening to others backstabbing these people.

Get a grip, or go bye-bye to those who don't accept changes.

Just letting all you IAC people know that they want to give write ups for getting hurt even for something as simple as a band aid!! I was told I needed to fill out an incident report no matter how minor for informational purposes only. I didn't need to go to ER, I didn't cause any damage to the company property and it really only took 5 minutes to put a band aid on and go back to work. Yet today I was served a disciplinary write up...apparently they want to make an example out of me! They had a supervisor spend several hours working on this and I couldn't believe how far out of proportion this got blown out of. A little pinch mark and a torn cuticle...a lot of people getting an extremely high salary are getting paid how much an hour to investigate a band aid incident???? On top of that where is the real concern for the things the plant is responsible for such as icy parking lots from when the water main broke or how about the chemicals we are breathing in that are supposedly a tolerable amount for most but not for all? When I gave a brief summery to my steward I was told to punch out and go home if I can't stop talking about this and it was affecting my production. There is a slogan about the company being dedicated to employee health and safety yet people step outside and take unscheduled smoke breaks which means they are NOT even in their production area...so they allow this unhealthy habit and loss of production! Sorry to all of you smokers but I really haven't got as many breaks as you all have because I don not smoke! My point is I was accused of affecting production by talking to my union steward but the many people sneaking out the back door are never even spoken to but are probably joined by their supervisor! Let this be a warning, the concern for your safety is really just a chance to write you up..no matter how small!

That's some BS Irritated. You non smokers are worse then the smokers, you stand around and talk longet then the smokers can smoke a cigarette and you think that's ok. I can smoke and pee faster than you non smokers can even get to the bathroom!! What does the smokers have to do with you being hurt! Don't bring down other workers just because you got busted!

Obviously you didn't read the whole thing or you would know. I didn't get caught not working I actually was while I was packing the box. What he didn't like was that I was talking about how ridiculous and petty it was. You are so wrong about your statement unless it is you alone on that one. People smoke on all breaks and most (not all) smoke in between for 3-5 minutes. I usually use the restroom on my break because I have time(because I dont have to go out and smoke!) I really don't care if you smoke so much you turn into a giant ash tray because that is on your health.Your quote, "I can smoke and pee faster than you non smokers can even get to the bathroom!!" Better not get caught running or it'll be a safety violation especially if you'd trip and fall out the back door! My point is 3-5 minutes out of your work day adds up to more than you think especially if you guys are expediting parts again. I really do not even talk to some of you anyhow, so I'm not standing around trying to talk to people. I do good job and there isn't anyone who can dispute that! Sorry I upset you UAW, this wasn't even about your bad habit, it was only meant to show a comparison of what is acceptable and what is not. So go off and smoke whatever it is you smoke and have a nice day!

Safety is about awareness and awareness cannot happen if we punish people for reporting what actually happens.

ha ha funny lol. The problem is that they don't give us a safe place to work in and they want us to be safe. The place looks like a 3rd world country!

I have to agree with you on that one! It does look like a 3rd world country and there is never enough room anywhere. We waste a lot of time moving things from one place to another to make room for something else. Views are blocked and aisles are always obstructed especially the docks. I'm surprised something more serious hasn't happened but even if it did it would be the employees fault not the company's! Not only will you be hurt but you will be punished for it too! Wouldn't it be nice if you felt like your employer actually cared about your safety instead of looking for a reason to discipline you all of the time. There is always such a negative vibe in there associated with everything. We need to spend 8 hours or more there everyday and it has to be so negative. I need this job and I get tired of hearing " why don't you just leave then" every time you have a legal complaint. That is not an option!
