Did you guys have your meeting? What happened?

The contract was accepted by over 70%.
Employees who have over 30 years of credited service can retire Jan. 1st and receive an extra $25,000. There are big changes in overtime - short work week - seamless shifts - lost the 5 minute wash-up at the end of the shift - get paid 90% for downtime up to 40 minutes - sign yourself up for downtime by Tuesday for the week-end - and still no guarantees. There were a lot of unhappy people there but it still got voted in. |
We also lost 111 jobs, sign ourselves up for overtime, not downtime,$15,000,000 guarantee that our membership doesn't drop below 450(?), we also get 29 jobs from Elsie. 73 people will be offered the $25,000 buyout. We also froze wages until 2010 and froze our week of floaters and lost a $1000 vacation bonus. New people hired start at 70% for three years. Containment jobs get a rate cut from $26.10 to $20.00. Therefor new members will make $14.00. To the union leaders that is promising because the company really wanted that one. There was other stuff too but I can't remember. I know one thing though. I am going to ride mangements asses when we are down for two hours because there is no parts and we get in shit for coming back 2 minutes late from break. The real reason Lear Kitchener is losing money is because those idiots don't know there asses from a hole in the ground. And if any management shits are reading this, let it be a warning. If we are going to take cuts then you are going to have smarten the fuck up. Whew, what a rant......
Please tell me that the $26.10 is in Canadian, not US dollars !!! What would that conversion rate be? |
http://www.xe.com/ucc/ I believe it is $22.83 |

maybe you workers in dept 33 should have a sit down when you all get writen up for the silly shit Jason does to ya. If you show that management that your all sticking together on these issues, then maybe Jason would be out the door like he should have been long ago. Don't let them push you around. I have worked over there in that dept. and i know it completely sucks because of the way that your treated by management. the sad part is that it's getting the workers to act the same way towards each other. Do you even have a union over there?? Most of us think ya don't. I personally think that dept 33 always get's the shit end of the stick. I wish the people over there would get a back bone and stop being doormats for the formans. Formans over there suck. It's a disgrace that you have to ask to go to the wash room. Just wait till ya have to wait for the next shift to come in before you can leave and have to do clean up on your own time. No overtime pay for that. If it happens to me I will be walking out.

I can't beleive some of you people. You whine and bitch about whats going on But I'll place money on it 95% of you have never cracked the contract book and you only go crying to the union for answers when it applies directly to you and your own situation.
I was at the meeting last Sunday, I listened to what the union said and read the hand out, I totally understood what was being said to me and the impact the language changes are going to have on the membership and we have gone backwards in seniority rights, wages and vaction time, we've given up leverage to put pressure on management to do their jobs proparely with other language changes. We had the option of voting no yet with Trades, Production and the Office union votes it works out to 87% overall voting yes and now after the fact people are questioning whether or not it was a bad contract and realizing it will apply to you. All alot of people heard was "we didn't loose all the contractial time off like we thought and we're getting a $1000 signing bonus". Its your bed you made now lay in it and stop your whining. Time will tell if it was worth it or not but in the mean time I'm not going to let the threat of Lear closing us worry me. THERES LIFE AFTER LEAR! |
Actually,
Mr Lemming we did get leverage to put pressure on the company to get things fixed. After 40 minutes of downtime we get AE. Were was that when we had Rumble in 26. We did lose the Spa week too. You are right though about most people not giving a shit until it affects them direcly. And yes Lear robot, Jason is an ass clown, but once you stand up to him he backs right off. Trust me I know, I have gone toe to toe with him and now he doesn't say anything to me anymore. Im just glad Sponge Bob is gone. Now we have to get rid of that Limey Prick. |
How is getting A/E after 40 minutes of downtime leverage? Leverage would have been A/E for all downtime that way management would be all over us to get back up and running so they wouldn't have to pay. You're dreaming if you think this management crew could keep things running effectively and efficiently.
Oh and going toe to toe with a guy built like a bicycle is really impressive, why don't you try that Limey Prick and impress us all. |
It is AE for the entire time you are down,if it exceeds 40 minutes, not AE after 40 minutes. It beats getting tool for two hours. And no I don't think management can or will keep the place running efficiently, when have they ever? Sadly enough that will have to be up to us. Get on their asses and stay on their asses. Sure it is easy to go against a rail, like Jason. His power isn't his physical strength . He is a stuporvisor I didn't fight him physically, that would get me fired and he would win, that way, I fought him with words and made him shut his mouth, pissed him right off. And leave me and the rest of the people running our job alone. Which would is more pleasing than beating skeleton boy.

Hey
Can anyone tell me what the shift numbers/letters mean? i.e. 1AB |
Yes, 1AB means 2 shift rotation between days and afternoons. 7:00 am to 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm to 2:30 am.

I just wanted to let you all know how great of a fucking company Lear is. They move one of their management personel over from Illinois. Then they turn around and let the person go after two weeks! Reason: DO NOT LIKE STYLE OF ASSOCIATE. What a bunch of SHIT! But they got fucked: PAID FOR ALL THE RELOCATION EXPENSES ... Person from Indiana and loves it back in the LAND OF MILK AND HONEY. Tell Connie Grimsley ... Good way to use STOCKHOLDER money!!!

A diversity of opinions going on here! I recently joined the UAW/Lear network and have been sharing information between plants regarding the corporate mentality (or lack of) as to their "game plan". It's resulted in alot of solidarity. Stick together all-IT'S ALL WE HAVE! I agree with the brother who said that some incompetant management is the issue. Now it's OUR problem. Where the hell do you go with that?! I've been to the Kitchener plant and the Union people I met were nothing but good people. Later

Your grammar really sucks |

Can you give me a hint as to who you are ?..Do you actually work for Lear Kitchener?Did you complete a job application and have an interview?
Don't waste your time on this gutless meathead. It's ass clowns like this that are brave sitting behind their computer and bitch about everything wrong in their tiny corner of the world and won't speak up when the time comes. I mean he doesn't even have the balls to admit that he works in Kitchener.
Has anyone figured out what's going on with this stock buyout and where it's going to lead? I personally think that we have only a small portion of the picture and that Lear haas a game plan out there and is not revealing the entire picture. Any info or opinions would be appreciated. I admit, I'm not getting whats going on, although I'm trying to figure it out. Thoughts???

After the deal closes, Lear's shares no longer will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange or be publicly traded.
