I work at the zanesville plant i got laid off a couple of weeks ago but they said that they are bringing 4 lines from tampa and we have a new line coming from hyundai or however you spell it. We heard that Lear wants you guys to take a pay cut and you guys won't. Our JB dept manager Tom Elliott and our JB boss Karl Sherrick was down there in May and June. Karl went last week and we are supposed to start running samples this week of whatever we are supposed to get from Tampa. I don't know what lines got laid off before we found out. Our contract is up in Oct so hard to tell what will happen.

I guess during your shut down they brought up some stuff like lazpiur pallets and things to run samples while you guys were on shutdown and had some of our people work shutdown to run samples so they could get your stuff back to you so you could run when you start back up.

Since we are laid off did you go to the meeting on school this past Monday?

When we filled out TAA apps we were also instructed to fill out ATAA apps also. I do not belive it is right. We were also told school is a last alternative! That is baloney. I am over 50 and I want to go back to Lear if called. Once we accept ATAA benefits with employment of another job, they are telling us we can not go back to Lear. That is not the One Stop. It was the lady from TRA. I will work where I please. I did not want to sign up for ATAA but was told I had to do so because I am 50. So if I have to take a job, I will save the money and sent it back to ATAA when they demand it. I am still going back to Lear.
Either way in time we are getting the screws. I think the local Lear management is more trusting than the government.

Rah for the oned that went on medical leave before tha lay off!!! Not that I want to be sick, but atleast they do not have to deal with this TAA and ATAA right now. It is a bunch of double talk baloney.

Good Luck until we get back to JB.

Neal: I work in the Zanesville plant in JB when I do work. I went through one Lear closing and went to another Lear only to see it doing so poorly. Not because of us. It is just because of the greed of big buiness. The stupidity of our politicians and the people who put them there. We are all in the same boat and I believe it is a sinking one. Mean time I am going to get the schooling and go back to Lear if they call me. I need the insurance badly. No one can afford insurance even if the gov't does pay 65%. You also have to drive atleast 50 miles to get help on your gas bill to go to school. But guess what. I drive roads and it is way past 50 miles to the school. But they go on air miles. Now who the h*e*l*l is going to fly their car to school. I bet that idea came from a republican !! And I bet the auto workers could not even design a flying car.

Neal, It is a shame that so many people live from day to day with the stress of their jobs leaving. The school is not what it is cracked up to be. We can not blaime each other. We can not blaime our local management. How ever when one Lear employee want millon $ salary and retirement figures and all we get is 14 an hour( and one h*e*l*l of a lot of worry) The Big Lear needs to eliminate that millon mark to save lots of money. They can always get a temp that does not costs so much, and replace such people. Please keep me informed of what is being said about the Zanesville plant in Tampa. Even if I been through one closing and know the probable out come of this plant, I like to know what is also going on at other Lear plants. I do know people are living in misery like me and my co workers.

Where is the article. We would love to read it. It was on the front page the last time Lear had a closing in Zanesville. All I get is a circle inside topix and no article. Lear management told me they did not know anything of it. Where are you from? Where did you hear it.

I would be shocked if the Tampa plant makes it till September 09. They are telling employees there that there will be no further layoffs till the plant closes. I doubt they can really say that with certianty. They tried to use the "going to mexico/ China reasoning during the last bargaining but I am sure that that was just to save some money till the plant closed and the products went overseas anyway. The worst place to get information on whats happening is from managment at Lear. They are going to tell you a story that works for them. It has been obvious to all but those who didnt want to accept it, that the Tampa plant was going down a long time ago. As far as the Tampa plant, managment/ supervisors have to accept the responsibility for the failure and inefficiency in this plant. They sent the biggest problem to oversee the Mexico Operations. The layoffs started at the bottom instead of the top as they should have.

I agree with 100% the same thing is going on in Zanesville. We hear your (old)plant manager is now plant manager in Mexico....We can all sit back and laugh when this all falls on them and belive me it will.....Lear pays management way to much money to screw things up!LMAO

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aquarius

The emotional atmosphere is quite potent under this Lunar Eclipse, evoking a sense of crisis. The problems you've been experiencing with a certain person lately come to a head during the next fortnight, making you feel that you have to take drastic action or lay down the law. Yet this could make the situation worse than ever, especially if you act from a sense of panic or desperation. Take things gently and don't throw your weight around unless it's absolutely necessary.
