Guy earns a salary he deserves based upon the market. It's a form a capitalism. Bothers me that so many Americans are against this ideal. We've become too much of a what can the government give me society.

When private sector CEO's do not perform they get a pay cut. Government workers continue to get increases regardless of how they perform.

If he can't "squeek" by on 5 1/2 million a year, He shouldn't be the CEO of Krogers...

Tough as it might be...Even I could make it through the year on that...And I certainly am not qualified to be a CEO anywhere.....

I think Mr. Dillon is doing an admirable job and is deserving of his compensation. Kroger did well in a tough economy competing against not only other traditional grocerers, but also the likes of Walmart, the largest retailer in the U.S. Kroger also does well to treat it's (Union)employees fairly and compensate them fairly. As it has been much debated, working with unions and union employess can be a difficult job. I am not a union supporter; I am a supporter of whom ever gets the job done. And Mr. Dillon is getting the job done and deserves every penny of his largely performance based salary. His performance not only affects his job, it affects the jobs of every Kroger employee and his compensation should reflect that.

I don't think American's are against this idea, just against the fact that so many people are losing jobs who actually work hard but yet the CEO's of these jobs keep banking millions of dollars. Somethings not right with that.

I don't see anyone mentioning handouts. I agree with you people have a right to earn and they get what they earn. I start to question if anyone however needs to earn $5.4 million per year. To be fair to Mr Dillon, he does have a rather small salary compared to many executives. But at the end of the day, does Mr Dillon's paperwork and leadership really add roughly $15,000 a day in value to the company? I seriously doubt it. And I seriously doubt the others who get paid these amounts are worth that much either. It's just another form of American excess. True capitalism doesn't pay someone $15,000 a day to do what someone else would do for $1,500. Fat cat corporate capitalism happily does though.

Capitalism is a form of greed exploiting the many to enrich the few. Communism destroys the motivation to do better. Communism in its present form cannot exist without a dictatorship. Somewhere there has to be a common divide where an economic system can exist to benefit all.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aries

Take care today Aries, because the emotional landscape in your neighborhood will be full of pitfalls during the coming fortnight, as it has been since the Solar Eclipse on May 20. The more convinced you are that you're right, the harder it will be to navigate your way around forthcoming events. If you feel resentful of someone, perhaps a neighbor or sibling, you need to get your feelings out in the open, rather than burying them deeper, where they'll fester and lead to more problems in the long run.
