Would you but furniture from a grocery store?

I have had multiple issues with Kroger customer service and have had to contact their corporate headquarters. At one location, the "Customer Service Manager" held a coupon two inches from my nose, pointing at it and yelling at me. My 3 year old child started to cry because she thought this woman was hitting me.

Depends. A lot of the stuff sold at the Market Place is nice. I wouldnt buy living room/dining room furniture. Maybe a book shelf, cabinet or end table or something similar.

I find this really hard to believe (although it is true). I mean, during a recession people still eat, right? and they probably eat more at home so they need groceries.

The loss is due to the Ralphs writedown. The company still made a profit from operations. It's an "on paper" loss. Nothing to freak out about.

good point, barney's ghost!! while i like kroger and shop their regularly, i wish they would focus on groceries and not home furnishings. kroger needs to offer hot fresh items from the prepared and ready to eat food section. so often the items have been sitting there and are dry and not very good. that is if you can find anything. so many times there si no fresh, fried chicken.

Quit trying to pass expired coupons. Quit trying to pass coupons for products you did not buy. Quit trying to pass coupns for similar products from another manufacturer. The computerized scanner can read better than you.

Works pretty well for Meijer and Walmart.

I don't like Krogers, at least the one in my neighborhood in Canal Winchester. If you go in past the evening rush hour, there is usually only one line open. If you have a cart of groceries, you either have to wait your turn in line or do self-checkout. I am sorry but Krogers charges way too much for me to check out a large order myself, it's insulting. Their customer service has declined so I shop Meijers for most groceries and Giant Eagle for sale items and meat.

They had some good deals on seasonal furniture at the Graceland Kroger last year. Really nice swings for the front porch. The prices were competitive, surprisingly.

The margins on food are pretty thin. Maybe they need a few higher-margin items to help keep food prices down? I'm okay with that.

That's true. Ralph's in California is not doing that well so I hope that doesn't come back to bite Kroger in the arse.

I guess that is why I had to stand in line so long yesterday. The cashier said she was supposed to be the only cashier scheduled, although there were two lines open. They won't save money if people decide to shop elsewhere. There should be a discount for doing self checkout, since they are saving the cost of extra labor.

Quit making assumptions? OK. Tell us why you were being yelled at then, including any parts that might make you look like a dunce. I am sure there is much more to your story than the wee bit you've posted.

Someone is convinced they're in the right under the Lunar Eclipse, and they don't care how they get their point across. If there's trouble in your neighborhood, get it sorted out by putting your thoughts down in a blog, or on paper. Don't let anyone, even siblings, treat you like this, even if you balk at standing your ground under this moody cloud. Travel plans may be upset, and spiritual pursuits, and dealings with foreigners or people of other cultures is subject to pressure too.
