Ralphs also discontinued the senior silver discount program. Until today seniors over 60 or 65 received a 10% discount off private label Ralphs and Kroger products. Without an announcement, they "snuck" that one into today's changes. I shopped at Ralphs this morning, did not get the senior discount (with no explanation) and some prices were lower including milk and cat food but most were unchanged and I bet the lower prices move up. Discounts and double coupons will be gone and next quarter Kroger's profits will be even better while we consumers suffer.

Goodbye Ralphs, hello Vons I love you!

Well, I am not an avid Ralph's shopper, Vons has been my store of choice for over 33 years now. Nevertheless I did switch to Ralph's, for a short time, when Vons stopped doubling coupons awhile back. Double couponing and reward cards are critical for my family's food budget.

If a coupon's face value is 75 cents, will Ralph's double the quarter to bring the savings up to $1.00?

A lot of Ralphs customers will probably switch to Vons.

Actually, I had been under the impression that Von's did NOT double their coupons. If it's true that Von's does double and Ralph's does not, I will immediately switch to Von's even though Ralph's is closer.

You must remember, Ralph's may offer new low prices for temporarily for next few months after the policy change. After a few months, they will gradually raise the prices especially on non-key items. Also, what is define as new low price? Lowering price on a item from something that normally cost $3.49 to $3.44 is a new low price. It not a big discount. Ralph's will lower price on many items very small increments fulfilling their promise. Overall, you will not save much unless you buy certain things on sale or more popular items.
Here is another trick Ralph's pass along as new low prices. They will ask the manufacturer to supply a slightly reduce version of a item, E.G. 8oz->7oz can of veggies. Ralph's will get a slightly lower unit cost on item and pass it along. Yes, you get a lower price with a reduce quantity. Again, you get a new low prices.
Ralph's new program is just a ploy to weed out unprofitable consumers and replace it with more profitable consumers. Ever wonder why Ralph's has shutdown there so called unprofitable stores in poor and lower class communities. The Ralph's that does exist has limited cashiers and poor customer service. Some may say, their produce, seafood, meats and other perishable maybe slight lower quality. E.G. Gasoline producers will sell 80% of the top layer gasoline in a gasoline truck to their own gas stations, they sell lower 20% with all the silt to the independence. The same thing for groceries. Ralphs will sell the better quality of same meat to Newport Beach and slight less quality of the meat to Santa Ana.
Don't buy into their new lower prices. Ralph's should be more honest to the consumer and share the real intent.

I'm sorely disappointed that Ralphs is jumping on the "squeeze SoCal harder" bandwagon.

Sign the petition telling them we won't take it lying down! http://www.petitiononline.com/Ralphs/petition...

Remeber when the stores were on strike and the public didn't support the strikers? And the stores used illegal tactics to break the strike? What they are doing now should come as no surprise.

Giant Eagle Success Story

Please complain and be very vocal. Please write to them. It can make a difference. Write a Letter to change it back. We can design a template letter make it available to everyone even people who don't live in the area may have a friend or relative or just care. Just bring a copy of the letter and hand to discreetly and carefully to Ralph's shoppers.

Here is reference to what happened over there.

The end of double coupons at Giant Eagle.

And then the return of double coupons at Giant Eagle.

What we need to do is remove all those UFCW workers and replace them with High School and College kids. There's no need to pay the UFCW that kind of money. Let them compete with Wal-Mart. Since I shop a lot at Wal-Mart, I KNOW the prices are better, coupons or not.

Boy and how ~ I could see it (maybe) back in the day when a cashier had to have a bit of sense to operate the cash register - but not these days when all you have to do is scan the item. Heck, a lot of places let the customers do it themselves. If the general public can do it - where is the special skill involved to justify such high salaries?

When I went into Ralphs on Friday they said all of the current club cards will expire on 7/31 and I have to get a new one. I smell a rat!

My 10% senior discount also did not show up on my card. I was told when I called their 800 number that the new discount was doubling of points which would be 2% and of course only comes 4 times a year. I've emailed Ralphs asking for their senior policy in writing. The local clerks would not give me a straight answer!

I sent an email to Ralph's customer service asking exactly what was their new senior discount and they responded that I'd have to call an 800 number....sidestepping the issue just like their clerks have done.....I plan to start shopping at Vons to see if I'm treated any better!!!

Well since Ralphs decided to screw their loyal
customers again ( including seniors) with their
new coupon rules, our neighborhoods have decided
to boycot our neighborhood store like we did with the
gas station problem!
When this catches on in other comumities the idiots that call themselfs uper management might have some explaining to do to their stockholders
when their profit falls well below expections.
Last quarter Ralphs had the highest profit level in the grocery industry!
