Why would anyone prefer the Kroger program? It offers a $.10 off per gallon discount for every $100 spent. Giant Eagle offers $.40 off per gallon for every $100 spent. Kroger's maximum savings is $1 per gallon. There is no limit on Giant Eagle's savings, so one could accumulate enough discounts to get their gas for free. Giant Eagle is the clear winner in offering great value for its customers.
Giant Eagle only allows the .40 on one fuel purchase.
Krogers allows you to take the .10 discount on FOUR fuel purchases.
It works out to the same amount of discount.
Truly it's a wash...you save the same amount of money whether you get a free tank of $4.00 gas or you get to save $1 off that $4 gass for 4 fill-ups.
