You are right, the "loyalty" program should stop. I just wonder who else is analyzing the Kroger shopping behavior of consumers. I am pretty sure the NSA could have a say in it when they want to.

as an example...breyer's ice cream runs about $5.50 ON SALE at kroger or giant eagle. the EXACT SAME container at wal-mart is $2.75 every day. i happen to know that one because i love ice cream and i can never get over the price difference. another would be totino'sfrozen pizzas that run about $1.50 ON SALE at kroger and giant ealge and are $1.25 everyday at wal-mart.
another option is just to shop at sam's club or (my preference) costco. yes, they track you thru your membership but they still have prices that are better than anywhere else INCLUDING wal-mart. as an example, you can get a bottle of benadril (spelling??) or ibuprofin (??) and you will get about 10x the quantity for the SAME PRICE as you would elsewhere. costco even puts out coupons every month that allow you to save even more.(plus you can get a jumbo hot dog on a sub bun AND a foutain pop at both places for like $1.59) you don't save money shopping at kroger or giant eagle.(except when they put coke on sale...then sometimes it's a better deal there than anywhere else.)

ALDI is also not bad when it is about saving a buck here and there. The problem with ALDI is the hard work for the workers, I think it's kind of inhumane the way they have to work there. By the time you buy a Sam's Club membership you've already spent your savings. And since I live in Pickaway County, if I go to Sam's Club or Costco I've lost all of the savings in gas to drive to the other side of Franklin County. Sam's Club and Costco might save you money if you have a family to feed or you live close but the savings aren't there if you don't have a family or don't live in the neighbohood. Besides, I can go to GFS and buy quantity foods for the same prices that Sam's Club has listed on line and I really don't need a jumbo hot dog on a sub bun and a drink. If I do go grocery shopping somewhere else it's Meijer because it's closer than Wally World. To each his own.
I think I'll still go Krogering.
