No one is disputing the effect of abuse on a person or condoning emotional or physical abuse.

What you described in this post is exactly the way I viewed Ms. Goff in the beginning....broken down, terrified, etc. However, we were then shown three or four recordings and trascripts that showed HER as the aggressor and provocateur. She tried to wake him up on the video and was extremely condescending on the recorded phone conversation. Nothing about her behavior suggested she was a victim. I saw her as an inconsiderate brat on the video and (like I said) very condescending on the phone, calling him "honey" and "sweetie pie". He sounded beaten down, most likely because he was very ill. Her tone of voice and attitude in those instances were not those of a victim. At least not according to my logic.....

I appreciate everyone saying nice things. I was pretty bummed out to get put on the jury but I learned a lot and I'm sure it was an experience I'll never forget. I mostly posted here to say that I feel like we got it right. I feel very satisfied in the verdict.

If she lied and used abuse as an excuse to kill then of course that is wrong beyond words and will make things so hard for women that are truly abused and are just trying to protect themselves and thier children...
I think the lesson is, if you're being abused by someone, you need to report it either confidentially or publicly. There needs to be some record and history so that the proper steps can be taken. I wouldn't suggest that anyone shoot their alleged abuser 15 times. Not a good idea.
