Whats going on!!!!!Tomatoes, carrots, now beef. Are regulations on produce and other food products not overlooked properly? The FDA needs to get more involved in keeping up the standards to ensure that food is not contaminated.

I don't recall growing up in a time where we had to worry about our food being contaminated with e-coli or anything else. What the heck is going on in this country when people would allow this to go on? We need to fight back against all of the imports coming into this country! What happened to the U.S. taking care of their own citizens when it comes to food and produce? I'm sick of our products that are probably safe being shipped out to other countries while they ship the contaminated products into us to be poisoned by them!

I am not sure if it is the products that have changed or us. People used to be much more diligent in their food preparation than now. Cook your food all the way and wash the vegetables you can in a rinse of one tablespoon of bleach to a gallon of water and rinse completely. It could also be that we sterilize everything so completely that we are prone to microbes now for which we used to have immunity.

I would have to agree with Lucy Phoenix on this one. The system is too large to police. There are a few things left in america that should not be industrialized. Our food supply is one of them. Buy local. Go to a smaller livestock processor or butcher who does the harvesting in their smaller shop. These places can control their processes. The larger plants shuck out 1000's of head daily, with low paid workers and obviously cannot maintain control. Our US food supply needs an overhaul. Go back to community sustainability...leave commercialized assembly lines to the auto industry.

Remember there used to be a slogan that said "buy american for americans", what happed to that? This country needs to get back to basics. Stop outsoucing our jobs, stop sending our food to other countries, bring our military home, and stop giving money to other countries. Let other countries feed, cloth, and support themselves. This country needs to take care of itself first and think about the american people first.
