Read the article. The man that watched him take the opener was a deputy sheriff. Doffing is(should be was) a Hastings police officer not in uniform. apple valley wrote: the question that has to be asked here is, who will lie the most to save this man's job, the cop who tried to take the corkscrew, or the lawyer hired to defend him, also how long before the arresting officer gets disciplined for "not recognizing" a fellow cop, this is why shoplifters are allowed to walk out of the store before being stopped, this man will still have his job, and no charges will be brought, however I don't think he will be going back to the restaurant anytime soon for supper

It doesn't matter about the value. He took it from behind the bar and put it in his pants pocket. If it was a $10 bill sitting on the bar and he put it in his pants pocket it is stealing, which is what he did. He tried to steal the opener. Da Crusher_RIP wrote: I posted this earlier on another story about this guy, but it bears repeating, just because the whole thing makes no sense to me why he would be doing such a foolish act. Even if it was a special corkscrew. "$10 bucks for a corkscrew? I don't think so. Most wait staff and bartenders use what is called a waiter's corkscrew, about 4" long and thin enough to either keep in a pocket or in an apron pocket. They are a dime a dozen and wholesale wine & liquor sales rep's give them away to accounts they do business with. They get them from the various wineries they represent." I speak from first hand knowledge.

Just a wild guess: You've got a beef with Paul Engh. yes i think this pig should get that and more. those pigs set up road side traps so they can chase down people who make a mistake and give them tickets.

I can't believe he still has or even got a job as a cop. He was resposible for a death of a girl on the back of his motorcycle when he was young. He was drunk, and she died. Hid dad died and got a free 4 yr degree. He went into L.E. He has run down a kid with his squad car because he could not take chase as he is morbidly obese, and now owns a bar in Vermillion. Cheers! Not. When is the city going to do something about this. What a joke is he...he is a joke to those of us that work in the field and aren't sloppy, lazy, disgusting, need I go on... So be a drunk, kill someone, run them over with a car, and steal when you can....LOVE THOSE TOWN COPS HERE...not! Javier wrote: <quoted text> He HID the thing under a plate. He KNEW he was caught and produced the corkscrew and lied about how he obtained it. Maybe the actual case is flimsy, but this d-horn is a cop and his intentions to steal it were crystal clear. And it doesn't help that the idiot previously ran someone down in his car. He has a disturbing pattern of using his position as a cop to do whatever he wants to do. I have always taken the sides of police officers with the difficult job they have to do, but stealing a corkscrew is just the tip of the corruption iceberg with this idiot.

I'm sick of this idiot. This is a peace officer? He needs to read the Police Oath again.
Don't go to his bar in Vermillon; they don't have any corkscrews apparently!

Something tells me that a bar in Vermillion should have no practical use for a corkscrew. The wine they serve there only needs a scissors to cut the box open.
