Coke, Pepsi, or Ron Paul

Full story: www.nolanchart.com

Op Ed The combined holdings of only five major media corporations (News Corp-Fox, CBS, Disney-ABC, General Electric-NBC, TimeWarner-CNN) include well over 75 television stations, 150 magazines and 100 newspapers across the globe.

Collectively known as the main stream media (MSM), these few corporations have insured the status quo in the upcoming election cycle. The media will not decide the election, but they have taken control of the choices.

Once again America chooses to kill the messenger, but the message still hangs over the election, pushed to the side like it really doesn't matter. The "others" answer to out of control healthcare costs? Why,you simply shove more billions at the problem. Crushing national debt? What debt? Ignore the problem and it will go away. At least for this election cycle. Shaky Fed policies? I haven't met an American yet who understands what the Fed is or how it works. Admittedly I was the same way until Ron Paul pushed me into thinking for myself. When the dollar crashes(as every fiat currency has-centuries of history have born this out)it will be of little consolation for myself and many economists to say "I told you so" as everyone goes down with a sinking ship. Maybe it won't hurt me as bad since decades of lower-middleclass living has taught me to go without.

Ron Paul needs help retaining his congressional seat too. He is being challenged in a primary by another "Republican." Ron Paul cannot transfer any funds from his presidential campaign to his congerssional campaign by law. I've read that Paul's seat in congress is in serious jeopardy. So contribute to that campaign because we need Ron Paul's voice in Congress more than ever.

You used the word Republican with quotes around
it as if to imply that Chris Peden is not a
Republican when, in fact, he merely holds some
views which are different from Ron Paul. Most,
from what I have read, are remarkably similar
to Paul's in regard to basic conservatism and
they are not by any stretch of the imagination
the views of the Democratic Party.

It would seem to me that from what I have read
that there is some feeling among Republicans in
his district that Paul has spent too much time
promoting his own political philosophy on time
they feel would be better used representing
their local interests in Congress. That's not
uncommon and is, in fact, pretty commonplace
when people seek national attention and/or
national office. I've seen the same criticism
of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John
McCain.

Some of the criticism I've seen from down there
has been about his ineffectiveness as a
legislator. That seems fair given his inability
to get any bill he has introduced passed in
Congress in 10 years.

Yeah, that's right. Ron Paul hasn't been like most of the other greedy legislators looking to suck all the pork out of Washington for his district. He hasn't "gone along to get along" with other Republicans who have abandoned the Constitution in their pork barrel spending.

Actually it might be a blessing in disguise if Ron Paul loses his congressional seat. That will free him up to build a third party which is so badly needed in this country. Actually it would be a second party alternative to the Republicrat Party.

Mary - If you actually bothered to check up
on your hero you'd find he introduced 80+
earmarks and $400,000,000 for his district.
I'd call that pork except for the $8,000,000+
he got for the private shrimp industry down
there.

I don't know how many people sponser Bills and how many are then passed.
How many Bills or more laws do we need?
That seems to be your main problem and main theme with Ron Paul.
That he doesn't get Bills passed. Thank God for Ron Paul then.
He is saving me money and is not just a "Big Sell Out".
We need more people in Congress like him , not less.

If the good people of Texas do not Elect Ron Paul to Congress they are cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Actually, I just read something where people in Ron Pauls camp were trying to help Native-Americans on the Reservations .

Yea, Them are a pretty site.
I wonder why foreign Newspapers never come over To our great Country and do a Story about our Native peoples?
Since we as Americans are so good at sticking our noses into every crevice of the Globe.

Simply saying, Knewbie, that Paul can't have it
both ways, claiming on the one hand to be above
everyone else while doing the very same things
he condemns when done by others.

The operative word is "hypocrisy."

One might reasonably assume that if one is
elected to a legislative body that the person
should have an ability to write legislation
that represents the will of the people who
elected him. Fair enough? I would suspect that
if Ron Paul ran for Congress declaring he would
make no effort to do this more than a few people
would question why he should be paid to do
nothing except vote "No." Seems like anyone can
do that.

But more to the point, as we have discussed this
on these threads, the assumption some like your-
self is that legislation is in its very nature
a bad thing when, in fact, that is not necessarily
the case. Laws can resolve differences. Well
written laws can actually reduce the need for
additional laws. Laws can prevent litigation.
Laws can protect and serve the public. Some
laws can save money, reduce future expenditures,
or consolidate functions of government. The
notion that legislation is inherently bad is a
simplistic approach to government that fails to
understand the legislative process.

Right there is the Word, "Hyprocrites".
Cuz, That is what most of them are.

They write the Laws
Interpret the Laws
Enforce the Laws

And then Break the the Laws
In any way that they see fit to do.

Because third parties have a dismal rate of failure. Maybe that can change in the future though. Let's hope.
