Rich Son Ruins Great Company

So, there I am sitting in the meeting listening to JOEL trying to pretend that he is one of common folk (wich reminds me of the section in the trash rag Us Weekly called: Stars, They're just like US!), back to my point, while Joel is promoting himself after the Harry is God video, I get this thought stuck in my head. I just can't get over the feeling of Deja-Vu. Then it hits me, all us new step children in the Quad Family have been to this dance before. Big respected powerful company started by a great people loving man with great business practices dies, Rich spoiled brat son takes over, decides daddy was not as smart as him because he did not try to be the biggest printer in the world...

Hang around long enough and you'll find out you're misguided in your assessment.

In 1989 Quad Graphics purchased WR Bean. I was an employee at WR Bean and 21 years later I'm proud to be a member of the Quad family. What Harry promised, he delivered. What Joel has promised he has delivered. Quad Graphics was built on TRUST. I have total TRUST in Joel and the leadership team he has in place. TOGETHER we can do more than individually.

See now, the problem is that it has already started out badly for us who are being grafted in, in that, we all took large paycuts in order to save the company with the agreement that those cuts end and our pay (and vacation cuts) would be returned to pre-cut levels.
Now, when you buy a company, you now own that company, that includes not only the property and equiptment, customers, and all that, but you now own all the agreements and debt and all that. So, Mr Joel Quadracci is now the proud parent of an agreement between WC and its employees. Now, on to the problem, Mr Quadracci today was asked pointblank about this agreement he is now obligated to, is he is a man true to his word. And I will be goshdarned if he did not pass the question to his hireling, who proceeded to avoid the question.
Come on Mr Quadracci, this is the main, single most important part of our jobs! And you are not man enough to answer it yourself! You are not man enough to make your underling give an honost answer.
The dirty little secret is the we at WC have been making much better pay then the folks that Mr Quadracci claims as his family. Now, we be making billions for the Quadracci family, while Joel tries to become everone's favorite uncle. Now perhaps you can understand why this was not a good day for world color employees.

I've never heard of Joel throwing tables or chairs or publicly belittling people so I don't think you need to worry about PK deja vu. And nobody's perfect but I've never felt that our leadership has misguided us, even through our 2008 layoff due to the economy and everything they've asked of us since in order to try to keep us profitable.

For ANY WC employee to judge Joel without knowing him and his beliefs should not say anything until you meet him or get to work under his leadership. He is just like his father who we all love and miss very much. There is nothing in his presentation that is fake or phony. What you saw and heard from him is exactly what kind of person he is. We have a great opportunity to be the same company
with a lot of new employees that we at Quad heard so much about.
If you are a bad attitude WC employee here is your chance to change
and actually be happy with working for a great company.

I have to judge Joel by what I know of him. All I know is what I saw and heard today.
Let me tell you what I heard and saw, I saw a person spend an hour trying to convince me to trust him and that quad cares about the people, then, I watched him as he dodged the single most important question of the day by passing it down, and then allowed his boy dance and squirm out of answering. That tells me that Joel talks a good talk, but when it comes time to deliver, his true colors come out. A real man in true to his agreement, and make no mistake, JOEL QUADRACCI owns this paycut agreement now, but it looks as if he is fixin to break his word, and he was just not man enough to say it.

Forgive me if I am wrong but, Quad is now our employer. Quad will sign your paycheck. Did you ever really think that World color was EVER going to give back what they took? Seriously. Yes, Quad bought our company and like the man said they have 64 plants with 64 different vacation/medical/pay issues. Quad is not breaking their word, they didn't have anything to to with World color making deals they couldn't complete. The Union made that deal with World color not Quad. Maybe you should ask our wonderful union what they plan on doing now. The way I see it we can roll with the changes and become happy little worker bees for Quad or get the hell out and start a new career, either way quit complaining until there is something to complain about.

Hopefully JOEL will not be a bad seed like PK was.I'm not from missouri, but don't tell me, SHOW ME. I'm relieved that any connection to World Color/ Quebecor is gone, hopefully things will get better.

Unfortunately jinx there are still a lot of Qworld folks still at the trough. Weimer, Blair, and the H.R. guy R.C.just to name a few. But lets hope things get better in spite of their best efforts.

Faith in what? Be real we're not brain surgeons and without help of a mediator such as a Union we will have to take what scraps they throw on the ground for us or walk. All this welcome to the Quad Family crap means nothing really it is answers no question of pay if we all are going to be fired and rehired at a lower rate. Believe me if I bought a larger company in this economy my only concern would to make money and first thing I would do is fire everyone and offer them a job at a lower rate and take away all the vacation time and have them start over. Those that want to stay can stay under those conditions those that don't like are free to go and work will be offered to you as a temp so wait by the phone.

The way the economy is now Former WC people should be glad they have QG I'm a WC employee and I am. There's a door you can go out if you don't want to work for QG I'm sure there are plenty people who would.

What did you wonderful union do for you last year. You got the pay cuts and vacation cuts just like the non union people.

while non-union shops were losing 8% on wages,one weeks holiday pay, and no 401k match the union shops lost 5% on wages and some benefits like sick days. No holidays lost and 401k and pension plans left in place.

lol thanks for speaking for everyone in the forum Billy. The thing is Billy being let go isn't the end just a new beginning. That is the way Joel will tell us as we are being fired .. The New Quad the New beginning..we will all be indoctrinated into the New Quad family..I just want to say hi to my new daddy Joel..hi poppy..lmao.. Honestly Billy why you mad at me? do you think that I am giving them ideas. You should be thanking me for opening your eyes to a scenario that you want to deny preparing for.
