We're not gonna get shut down it's gonna be because they get sick of dealing with the union, not because a bunch of people call in. They should be expecting call-ins, and if not, they're dumber than we all think. didnt say because of anybody callin in. said its because your attitudes and work ethic is so bad. you want places open tommrrow because of all the last minute sstuff you havent bought. or you want all the stores open so you can shop. why should they work tomorrow? o yea gee its called the customer! no customers no business. but hey its all about you! doesnt matter about our customers just as long as its about you! nobody is screwing you but you. if its so bad go find another job. but make sure you tell them you cant work holidays or weekends because you are a winebag and it s all about you!

Not to say I've worked every holiday, every year, but I have spent many Thanksgivings, Easters, and 4th of Julys working my production job. It's not great, but what can you do? It's time and 1/2 + 8 hrs holiday pay. If you call in, you lose your holiday pay, PLUS it's a double occurrence. When they make another round of cuts, they go right to attendance- so you do the math..... I need a job. My family understands that. It's hard, but it would be harder if I were unemployed. I have looked for other jobs, and had other offers. The grass is really not that much greener on the other side. I keep to myself, and do not drink the Kool aid. I treat Quad as what it is: my job. They owe me nothing but a paycheck to work for them when they ask me to. That's what happens when you choose to work for someone else. So, I'm sorry if your plant is working the holiday. Mine is too.....but I'll bring my slow cooker, and everyone on my crew will bring a dish to pass. We will make the best of it and be THANKFUL we have a job, while we also pray for our former brothers and sisters who are not so lucky. I encourage you to do the same. This has to be in my opinion the best post on hear. Honest, straight forward and sincere. With all of the crap on these forums, nice to see an heart felt post.

Thank you for a well written assessment of the reality of big business. I wish you best. We are not so lucky in Buffalo as was several other plants that were and are being shut down. About 40 more employees are being permanently laid off next week. We will all be gone the week before Christmas. The average employee at this time has 30 years at the plant. we were fortunate to have had a good paying job for so long. The best we can hope for is for good health in the future. Sometimes I wonder if working all those holidays was worth it, and then on the other hand I wish we could still be working. I hope your holidays will be better than what ours will be. God bless all of you working and not working, and have a great Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
