As anyone can tell by reading these comments, things are not good at this company and there is no one else to blame but Ricoh itself. The only people who don’t see it is the blind leadership. Japan is known for never having an original idea of their own, they have always copied or pilfered someone else’s so it is easy to see that the Japanese have at least remained constant with taking over a dying company like IKON and putting their idiots, who destroyed that company in the first place in charge. All the while keeping just the spineless remaining Ricoh C level management in place while letting the ones who made a difference go, case in point SERVICE. It amazes me that Japan believes that letting these losers run the show is ever going to improve their bottom line. I have been a loyal employee to this organization for 25+ years up until this last merger and had hoped to retire in the next few years, but find that highly doubtful now. I have watched this company have absolutely no compassion for their employees anymore. No matter how much bullshit they pitch, this company is clueless. They always wanted to be known as the employer of choice, when in fact they have just become the employer of necessity.

Ricoh Direct is now gone. Ikon has "twizzled" and "cadanced" themselves into the key positions and justify their existance with useless spreadsheets, conference calls, and micromanagement that add no value to the business.

With the Lanier/Ricoh merge, employees from both legacies were allowed to interview for open positions. With Ikon in charge, the business acumen that RBS employees had is not important. For the few RBS legacy employees in key roles, it is just a matter of time before Ikon legacy employees bully their way into those positions.

It is obvious that Ikon is in charge of HR too. When small cuts were made at Ricoh before Ikon there were no Holiday parties etc. Now if blogs are correct, not only were there holiday parties, employees were walked out during the festivities. Now employees are eliminated in West Caldwell or Atlanta with the jobs moving bs to Macon or Melverne and celebrate the sucessful "transition" with a party. Sounds like the Titanic. And the Ikon mentality of laying off employees in order to make profit numbers, rather than fixing the systemic issues, is the new norm.

The best part is that Ikon legacy employees state that Ricoh purchased them because Ricoh direct was ineffective and Ricoh needed the well oiled infrastructure that Ikon built. It must be true because the same Ikon employees that managed the company into near insolvency are now the backbone of Ricoh.

The best and brightest RBS legacy employees will continue to be "run off" and passed over by this new Rikon culture. So very sad. There is no longer any pride in stating that you work for Ricoh, and no respect for RBS employees or the Japanese.

I am a site manager of a place that has had five site managers in the past 5 years. It blows big time, I cannot wait to leave the place. Ikon has to be the worst storm of suck I have ever seen. Low pay and really low moral, I can be cut without notice and have to carry a lazy ass who cannot even get more than a part time job at home depot before. he was hired because no one else would take the low wage they were offering. There is no incentive to move up and work hard. Just do what you have to get the job done.

Hmmm...I am having horrible customer service. I do not work for the company...so you can believe me. I tried to order some refill materials for my machine--was told that I could not get it locally because I do not have a service contract with IKON. I was told to order through their website. I was told by an agent that I would receive my supplies in two days. When I did not recieve my order, I called. They ran out of the product and it was back ordered and could be two weeks or more. Called an aquaintance locally who connected me to an order supplier out of another state. Placed an order with them, was told I would have my order in two days--did not happen. E-mailed the sales agent who sent me a UPS tracking number and told that it would be delivered in two days. Checked UPS website today and the order was delivered to the IKON warehouse--NOT ME! and I would have to wait until they got around to delivering it to me. Lies! Lies! Lies! I am about ready to put this machine on curb and go buy a disposable copier/printer that I can get supplies for ANYWHERE! Will not purchase another Ricoh/Ikon machine EVER!
Buy a Canon and I work for ricoh sorry to say. Worse thing they ever did was buy ikon. That turned us into a company that sucks. They only bought ikon so hp could not. It killed Canon but they are better machines.

I agree with you. I was a Canon tech for Acopy/Acopy Alco Standard/Ikon and finally Ricoh-Ikon. After the sale I (and many others) felt betrayed by Ikon. After the sale many of the high end techs went to Canon and were hired. I didn't because I was getting close to retirement. But conditions at Rikon got so intolerable that I retired early. I talk to friends who still work at Rikon and they tell me it's worse than it was 18 months ago. What a sad fate for Ikon, but hell, Ikon brought it on themselves. And now the high management losers that ran Ikon are at Ricoh. If Canon had bought Ikon, things would be much different, IMO.

And now I'm told that the Ikon name will disappear on April 1st. Goodbye Ikon.

I just took the employee satisfaction survey and basically said I would get out of there as fast as I can. I was promised that I could apply for the company I was contracted too.( they reneged as soon as a applied for a job), stated I could have opportunities to move up (never happened), etc... They will lie to your face, my trainer was completely incompetent. I have no idea where they found this person. Claimed to be a dietician before working at IKON and was sucking down a big gulp and sucking down a bag of oreoes while training us. Had no idea what was going on, we asked her questions about the company and the person was clueless. Big storm of suck, plan on leaving as soon as I can.

Love how they marked up my insurance premium from $480 to $1040 per month for basically a HMO plan in 2012. Yes i had no copays but $1000/month for health insurance? Maybe because there were 4 layers of useless management above me who must of had a significant command of how to use a spreadsheet cause lord knows they could add no other value to the organization. Thank god I no longer work there. Its a good thing the entire industry is in the shitter otherwise this company would be an example of a new version of obsolete. I guess you could call it Death Row.

Ricoh is dysfunctional, and will be until it opens it's eyes up! I have worked for them for 4 years and I can tell you Ikon management does not have a clue of how Ricoh ran, or how is should be ran! The current management are a bunch of bean counters from Ikon who are getting rid of all the legacy Ricoh employees they can, and for what? I have seen a semi-functional company go to a dysfunctional company, current management has no clue of what is involved at the street level, it's like the guys tell us in a round room to pee in the corner! Two sales departments is ridiculous, in each office we have a Ikon sales team, and manager and a Ricoh sales team and manager, and frankly no one wants to do anything until after April 1 when we will supposedly be ONE name branded..... WHAT A JOKE!

So 18 months after I retire and they are still doing that? We had two sales teams, Ikon and Ricoh, selling the same equipment out of the same office and competing against each other. And then in service we had two teams, the Ikon team (Canon and a little Ricoh) and the Ricoh team (all Ricoh) working out of the same room. After I left they took one of the Ricoh techs and made him team leader of the Ikon team, which was mostly Canon trained. That pissed off the Canon techs. The entire situation was bizarre.

You Ricoh guys probably don't know this, but when we all converted over to Ikon (in my case, from A Copy/Alco), the name IKON was supposed to stand for "I Know One Name." Hilarious, but true. Well, now we all know what that one name was, and it's Ricoh!

I ran into the guy who was our regional service manager when I worked there. He was canned a few months after I retired. He's doing well, in business with some other ex-Ikon management guys in a related field and happy he no longer works for Rikon.

There is so much incompetence going on it is not even funny, if you do not want to be treated like garbage(lied too and no back up even if you do what you told) get away from this company. There is more turnover in this company than any other I have worked for. I save every e-mail I send/receive to my boss to my personal g-mail account. I have zero trust...getting out as soon as I can... I agree with all of the above posters... avoid this company..

I was once a energetic/willing employee to develop myself and work up the ladder to a better position, even if i had to start at the bottom. I've been here for almost 5 years now and they take advantage of good, honest, nice people only trying to better themselves in their career. The pay is horrible considering what you have to deal with, recognition/raises is also horrible. They always want you to do everything for free and overload you until you can't handle it. I use to be willing to go out of my way to help others but when it comes down to it i'm the one being jerked around....not happy

Could not agree more, I have been asked to do jobs not in my scope of work and when I refuse I am not backed up. A major sh..hole if I ever saw one. Avoid Ikon, management will throw you under the bus..

This company sucks they dont care about there techs or there customers . they send out techs and tell them not to put in parts because of the numbers the managers dont even care the only thing is the #. they send there techs out with 15 calls in there boxes and wonder why they cant get them done is because the machine they work on is a piece of shit ricoh . never seen a machine with so many error codes . ask the customers and they will tell you . there techs are so stressed out because they are always told by there managers that if they dont like it get out . but little do they know is that techs are looking elsewhere for there jobs even heading to canon . and looking to start a union! eat that ricoh

No one at IKON/Ricoh has ever read the federal or state versions of the FLSA. They have mis-classified non-exempt employees (techs) and the managers routinely commit fraud by changing time reports to show no overtime. These followers have no idea their overlords have them committing a crime that can lead to $25,000 fines and jail time. And there is a ground swell of techs looking for a filing for class action status for back pay and action against pay reductions related to CompTIA certs the company is not giving any real time to acquire. The next housing crisis will be Ricoh FTSM's and Service Directors defaulting on their mortgages from MCI Walpole.

What I've heard is that the techs have x amount of time to get A+ Certified or take a 5% reduction in pay. That sucks. Later, should they eventually get their A+ certification, they do NOT get that 5% back. The company makes out; you techs get screwed (again).

I've also been told that Runzheimer has worked their magic and reworked the rules so if you have an out-of-compliance vehicle (over 4 years old), your fixed reimbursement drops to $100 a month. That really sucks. If I were still working there in my old territory (Spfld,MA) I would tell my "manager", and I use that term loosely, that I stay in my territory and not accept any call 30, 40 or 50 miles away, ever! If I'm caught up with calls, I'm not taking calls in any adjacent territory. Screw the Edge.

And finally I hear that the RBS techs are telling customers that the Ikon Ricoh techs are incompetent. You guys really need that backstabbing, don't you. You're all techs and you are all being screwed. Nobody's better.

I never would have believed working conditions there would have become worse than they were when I left. Amazing.

I have moved on from this crappy company. I would avoid this place and work elsewhere. I know a guy who was with the company for 8 years and I made the same as him when I started. So glad to leave my site. Having worked with forrest gump and the other one just makes of stories is about 4 hundred pounds off my back. I am fed up carrying the site on back. IKON/Ricoh this cluster*&$# is no longer my issue.

Do any of you ex or disgruntled Ikon employees have the balls to step up and tell the world their dirtly secrets about the CPP650????? And what a miserable failure it was. They knew it had a mechanical and software flaws and sold it to many of us unsuspecting slobs and we took it up the ass!! We are being sued. They breached the contract by stopping just weeks into the contract to supply us with toner and the smart kits because they said customers were selling them on ebay, well that's not my problem. The tech was fed up coming out 2-10 times a week. He knew the secret and told us. Anyone else out there have the guts to speak up??!!!!!!!
