I've ridden motorcycles for the past 38 years, and I have never owned a Harley. Why? I guess because I never liked the kind of people who rode Harleys. Harley-Davidson's latest "screw it" campaign is another good reason not to buy a Harley. This country is in trouble. It's not the time to stick your head in the sand and pretend everything is OK. People need to start thinking and paying attention again. "Screw it, let's ride" encourages doltish ignorance and solves nothing. Pretending everything is OK is just plain stupid.

This is what the H-D ad is really saying: "We don't do Fear, We do Stupid" and "We're already OPEC's Bitches, So Screw It, Let's Ride"

You both demonstrate how clueless you really are!! Why don't the two of you propagate your inane drivel amongst those of the same myopic dweebs you have cloistered with all of your shallow, unredeemed years. Leave the roads to those who understand.

As an avid motorcyclist of over 30 years I think I can grasp part of what this attempts to say-We have, do, and will continue to try to improve the world around us.Most Harley riders are supporters of Toys for Tots, Veterans rights, food banks, the MDA, and more Charitys than the "rich folk" even know exist! So sometimes we need a place to unwind and enjoy the freedoms our Brothers and Sisters fought so hard to keep for us AND for all of you!! It just so happens that place for us is on 2 wheels in a group of friends and family who would truly do anything for themselves and their country-Don't judge us by the "newbie" 19 year old kid on a brand new softail custom thats got $35,000.00 in custom work and an owner with a holier than thou attitude-Check out the 30, 40, 50, and 60 year old guys-some of their bikes are only worth $5000.00-See they value their family and home, too. Surprised? Shouldn't be.And don't forget how many bikers are war vets-its not a coincidence! People who travel close to death together tend to travel together again someday. We owe those Patriots the Respect, Honor, and Dignity that for some reason was forgotten by many-but it was NEVER forgotten by thier biker brethern!-And if you don't like my twist on the story.....screw it. Let's Ride!!!

I think what Harley Davidson is saying with this promo is that there is nothing we as individuals are going to do about the mess our country is in so do what you want and don't dwell on what you can't fix.

I don't think Harley Davidson is telling us to engage or disengage in political debate, to support or oppose any cause, or vote for or protest any legislation. To me, what this Rallying Cry does is articulate how I feel when I ride my bike, which happens to be an HD. Monday through Friday, and often on the weekends, people call me with worries about time lines to obtain privileged regulatory licenses, covering debt service, and the status of revised operating agreements. What ever my politics may be, on which ever side of an issue I find myself, the politics of daily life are in my face. When I'm riding, the only thing I hear is the rumble of the engine. When I ride, the only thing in my face is the wind. What ever my opinions of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the credit crisis, or global food prices may be, allowing myself to be consumed by the important issues 24/7 doesn't do anyone any good. "Screw it, Let's Ride" is exactly how I sometimes feel and riding, in my case a Harley, is very cathartic. Besides, guys, it's just advertising. Relax. Go for a ride.

HD is the best bike around you should watch your mouth i know these bikes my grand father builds older ones and i know of more people dieing cause of japs than HD'S.. ITS THE GLORY AND THE AMERICAN EAGLE, not the attitude we all carrie. people that ride japs puts us in a bad mood cause you arnt carefull you guys just speed around and think you wont wreck or hurt others but you do. I think jap riders should be more respect full and they should appriciate the wiser HD riders. Hd's have been around longer than japs ???i wonder why??? cause they are respected and when your riding on a HD the glory is AMAZING!!!

HONESTLY SHUT YOUR MOUTH! You should think about what your saying befor you say it!! Its a proven fact that people who ride japs die in more wrecks, so it looks to me like your the one who needs to pay more attention!!!!!

Ash, If HD really cared about the faithful, they would institute cash-back programs, 0% interest loans, and all of the other programs that could get sales moving. Instead, I've heard that they are raising interest rates to dealers. But what the hell, Screw the common guy, lets ride Wille G.?

What I don't understand is I've had a "Screw it, Let's Ride" bumper sticker my local dealer gave me back sometime in May. Pretty far back to be printed as a "news" article.

It's just a trap that to many people have fallen into. Late for (1) payment? They charge all the back interest at what ever outrage rate you agreed to if you default in any way. Plus other credit companies see this and it's an excuse for them to raise their interest rates on you.

Those who have cash reserves, high FICO scores (ie. 800+) and unblemished credit will gravitate towards 0% interest. Your opinion on personal finance is not in the majority, keep it that way!

All it takes is one missed/late payment (sick, hospitalized, overlooked, etc) and your royally screwed. It's a "you don't get something for nothing" situation. The credit companies offer these in hopes that you will default somehow and then it's (Gotcha!). What I was suggesting was nothing more than sound financial advise period.

During periods of prosperity and recession, the consumption of goods and services is simply a matter of want versus need and check your ego. If folks understood this premise, I doubt the economy and credit markets would be in the current state of disarray. At a very early age, I was instilled principles of personal financial management which have personally served me very well. To date, I financed and paid TWO Bachelor degrees, own title to my auto and recently received the deed to my home in addition to accumulating a net worth well into seven figures. This at the age of 43. On the other hand, I have also personally witnessed others during the last dot-com fiasco, who lost everything! Including their marriage.
