Well the gravy train is coming to a STOP. Well you know that old saying Pigs get fat and Hogs get butcher. Kick the Dam union out and be real on your Hr. pay this more then likely wouldn’t be happening. Or just hire a load of MEXICANS. And get read of everyone else.

Good Luck to everyone involved. This sucks, and what Huggy doesn't think of is that YOU support the local economy.

The place will be closed in about a year due to the abuse by local workers here, they took advantage of the system in taking overtime, about time people wake up an be honest workers, after the last contract deal and what the leaders knew what goes on there the knew it was the best place to start the trim down effect, no one to blame but themselves.....

abusing the system is working OT that was offered? I don't think so.....I've workied for 33 years and never hated anyone for getting OT when it was offered! Blame the big guys,CEO's etc. Not the averge Joe that's just trying to put food on the table for his family!

Brand recognition has carried 'em a long way. I love my air cooled V. But let's face it. The competition has caught up and out tech'ed 'em. Best lookin' bikes on the road are getting over run by affordability and dependablity. Not too late to whip it into shape if they face reality. Give a new water cooled easily serviced bike with Harley torque and I'll be the first one at the door if they don't blow smoke up my ass with their inflated pricing demands.

You can't blame the system or the big wigs. You are not there to see what actually goes on in there. If anyone should be to blame it should be the Maintenance workers who sit around on their regular shifts and overtime doing nothing and still get paid. Or you can blame the supervisors for not putting them to work, take your choice. What needs to happen is things need to change and Harley needs to trim the fat out of the company. The only way to do that is to get rid of the union. As for the average Joe, the average Joe there needs to wake up and see the problems they created with their laziness and how it affects the economy. But that won't happen because they won't blame themselves, they are to busy filing greivances to try to make up for the ovetime that was already cut.

I am concerned how the loss of jobs will impact the economy in York County but I am glad to see many of the greedy union workers out of jobs. They did this to themselves!

You were right in tune but then your last sentence put the "real" in "reality" as what ever they build it will be overpriced, what ever they do and what ever they say will be 'smoke up ur azz".......... any more questions???

I always find it amazing how so many people in the York area who are in these low paying McJobs despise the employees of Harley so much. Instead of complaining about how you don't have raises, health care or anything else, why don't you try to improve YOUR situation rather than wanting to see somebody else lose out?

Another thing: do any of you realize just how many other jobs in this area depend on this place? It's not just these guys that work there. It's the employees of all the local suppliers. It's the employees of all the places that these supposedly overpaid employees spend their money at. Every time a Harley worker stops for a cup of coffee on their way to work, that helping sustain a job for somebody else. Do you know how much these supposedly overpaid employees pay to various levels of government in taxes? Some people cut off their nose to spite their face.

Oh yeah, as for the OT, I seem to recall a few years back in their boom period, they supposedly had MANDATORY OT.

Yikes, There are alot of jealous people on this site. Who cares what Harley Workers make an hour. Do you think this is why the layoffs are coming. No could it be we are in a depression of the ecomomy and sales have plummeted. Thats the main reason folks!!!! Oh by the way whats Bambi's phone number she would look good on the back of my Harley.

I am sorry that they have to lay people off but they ask for it . I have been a Harley man for years . I can no longer afford one . The people working there cried for more money and got it . Now they will have to pay the price for there greed . Bring the pay down and lower the price of there bike and they might stay in busness .

Just to set a few things straight- the price of a motorcycle is not set by the average everyday union employees. DUH! that is a management thing! Some of the union emploees have suggestrd that maybe that would stimulate sales but HD corporate would rather keep the price where it is and loan money to people who cant afford to pay it back when times get tough. HDFS is in the same boat as every other bank in america right now and I know it may dissapoint all you haters to hear this-no union employeees or sleeping maint. personel running that show! Even though I think some people in all areas of the buisiness have made some stupid decisions-those people can not control the fact that others have lost their jobs before us and would rather feed their families then ride their motorcycle. Bottom line....no one in this economy has money and lots of people do not have jobs. Lastly...to all of those making comments about Bambie Snyder-grow up!I don't even really know her but what grade are you folks in?Really........

The prices of the bikes are set by upper management. They have high prices because they can get high prices for them. If they can get $30k for a bike, then why would they sell it for $15k? It has nothing to do with the cost of making them... except that they won't sell them at a loss.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Gemini

It's a red letter day for relationships under the Lunar Eclipse in your house of significant others, because you're facing some important and far-reaching changes to some of them. The pressure has been building since the Gemini Solar Eclipse on May 20. f you've known for some time that things aren't working out, you're about to reach a crisis point as becomes obvious that the present situation can't continue much longer. The coming New Moon in Gemini on June 19 will see progress of one kind or another, though this unusual eclipse cycle will have a far-reaching effect. You may have to be cruel to be kind, or more forceful than you would like, in order to get your point across, but do you really have any viable alternative?
