Maybe it's "junk" because the union mindset of "it's not my job". I believe his bark has bite - I wouldn't call his bluff because I believe he'll do what he says he will. He has to - if he doesn't do what he says, he loses face, and if he loses face, Harley is dead because no one will take him or his successor seriously. He's looking at overseas expansion, which is good. He's doing what he can to make the company profitable, which is good. Don't you think he knows he has competition and his product of overpriced and considered inferior? He does. And he's doing what he can to address those issues. Personally, as a small business owner, I think he'll succeed in his plan, the workers that remain will perform better, the union will lose power (which is long overdue), and when the dust settles, Harley will be a leaner more efficient and profitable company with a happier workforce. As for those of you who are slamming the company, take some business classes and see what it's like to run a business, especially in today's business climate. The days of any employee (white or blue collar) sitting fat and happy and expecting a gold watch upon retirement are long gone - it's up to you, as the employee, to show value to a company to retain your paycheck, or you'll just find yourself being replaced. It's the company that worries about global competition (which bring on lowered product prices which impacts gross profit margins which impacts what an employee can earn). Of course, based on the grammer and perceived education level of some of the people behind the posts, I doubt too many of you will understand this. I hope your children are pushed to do their best in school, because it's even more important for them (and their children) to have a better, if not, higher level of education. I'm sick and tired of hearing all you big company boys blathering on about about how all the unions cause all your problems. What a bunch of crap. I'm not a union worker or a fan of them. I tend to agree with most of your complaints but the real cause of a lot of company downfalls are the dam stock holders. Talk about a bunch of greedy hogs. They want more and more all the time as they sit on there ass and do absolutely nothing but invest money in the dam place maybe one time and expect returns on it for the next life time or two. They don't have to know a dam thing about the business but can push and demand till a company can't even perform properly. We are in a dam major recession but they expect more than ever but the employes are to do with less, work part time and even be layed off! The whole business world is a dam mess! I want to tell you something. Non union companies are also struggling too. Even in good times they couldn't make up there minds if they wanted to conduct business or just throw money down the drains. They have vice presidents watching vice presidents and no one could make a decision while the workers waited around for the overpaid goofballs to get off there a$$es.Skilled labor is paid big money cause they are good at there trades but would have a bunch of office boys who shuffle papers second guessing everything they done. Government is trying to create jobs, what a dam joke! They are the jerks who offered tax incentives to move companies out of this country. The whole thing is just plain sickening Mr.

I hope your children are pushed to do their best in school, because it's even more important for them (and their children) to have a better, if not, higher level of education. The only reason they lost profitability is because they forgot they were a motorcycle manufacturing company... they thought they were a bank. The loses they had were all related to H-D Financial making bad loans. Building a 100 million dollar museum when they knew sales were slowing and buying a nearly bankrupt motorcycle company for 120 million do not seem like sound business decisions either. It's easy to blame the workers and threaten their livlyhood. I'm sure the general public is not aware that after H-D Yorks last strike there was a reorganization at the highest level creating 47 new Vice-president positions. This reorganization actualy cost more than the union work force gained by going on strike. These threats of moving or closing plants is only a ploy to increase compensation for the highest levels of management by cutting the benefits of the people that actually produce product. I hope customers don't expect the price of bikes to drop, because it won't. You can expect the quality of the products to drop because a dedicated workforce has something to care about, temps don't.

HD management is a bunch of weasels. They got millions of dollars to keep the jobs in York and they screwed PA. Harley's appeal is "made in America". Let's see how they make out once they're made in India. Does anyone really think that those bikes won't be coming back here after they're assembled? What a load of crap. Sell your HD stock - once the lawsuits start for people hurt and killed and bikes put together by workers with minimal training and no experiencea, it's all downhill. Brings new meaning to the phrase "till the wheels fall off".

Employee morale is at an all time low. Ive been there. Ive seen it first hand. If you think this is good business, you need your head examined. Product quality is also at an all time low due to inexperienced workers. Also bad for business. Getting rid of employees that actually had pride in their work was not a smart idea.

How brain dead or should I say ignorant are the people on here saying Harley should move to Mexico, India other countries. They move and you loose. Many hard working people will loose their income which holds down much of the tax base in York area and brings millions of dollars to the PA and York area. I could go on about community projects, the Red Cross, The United Way, Toys For Tots, reading and literacy programs, funded after school programs, etc. losing money do to those people at Harley who contributed much financially and personally as volunteers to these and other organizations and so many important programs in our area will definitely hurt the financial, educational, medical, welfare, realestate, among other financial and human benefit infrastructure of this area and state.. Now only to say how much more can PA unemployment be loaded with more lay offs. Harley closes there will be a domino effect. Many outside companies that polish supply parts etc. will loose business and many of those employees will have their hours cut or loose their jobs. You get the picture . Read, research the info before you speak negatively of others situation. Get educated before you speak with negativity, and hate fora another persons employment and and income. It could be you job and life next that others are speaking of on these threads. Wake up and stop being so ignorant. These Harley employees have families to support just like everyone else. Paying almost $4.00 for a gallon of milk more then the price of a gallon of gas should be telling us that we need companies that can supply to their employees the financial needs to keep this country above water. Can't you see what is going on around you while all you do is sit there and bash and tear down another human being for their employment. Cut your nose off to spite your face.

Wandell won't even show his face to without his body guards to the people he takes their jobs away and their livelihood. Wandell will move on to another company after he has caused the same destruction for another American worker. He will do the same with the next company and the next company and so on and soon. As Harley now has no loyalty to their own employees so does Wandell have no loyalty to Harley and the other companies he tears apart from the inside. His only concern and purpose is to make money by totally looking to infrastructure his next company and moving on. His heart is not with a company he has helped build from the ground up as the the loyal employees who have made this product what it is today. Just faces not people. He is as ruthless as the new boys running HD. He makes his big money and moves on not caring who he steps on in the process.

Next they play the same threat game with the workers at their home town plant in Wisconsin. It works and they get huge concessions from the workers there too. It was pretty obvious KC was next. Harley actually played one plant against the other, "York, we're going to move production to KC if you don't sign on the dotted line." "Wisconsin, we're going to move production to KC if you don't sign on the dotted line." And now, "KC, we're going to move production to York if you don't sign on the dotted line." That's about as demoralizing to your workers you can get. I wonder how the quality of the bikes is going to fair..? I WORK AT THE "NEW & IMPROVED" HARLEY DAVIDSON PLANT WITH THE CASUAL & TEMP WORKERS REPLACING THE EXPERIENCED & SKILLED WORKFORCE. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY OF THIS MANPOWER (ECT) SCUM THAT WALKS THROUGH THE DOOR ONLY TO LEAVE DURING THE SHIFT BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THAT IF YOU WORK FOR HARLEY DAVIDSON ALL YOU HAVE DO DO IS SIT ON YOUR ASS & PUSH A BUTTON & A MACHINE WILL DO THE WORK FOR YOU! ONCE THEY EXPERIENCE REAL LIFE IN A MANUFACTURING (WHATS LEFT OF THE JOBS) FACILITY AND HAVE TO WORK IN A FAST PACED, HIGH STRESS JOB ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE THEY DECIDE TO HIGH TAIL IT OUT THE DOOR AND JUST WAIT FOR THE GOVERNMENT CHECK TO ARRIVE IN THE MAIL! THE ONES WHO HAVE STAYED, WELL AT LEAST 90% OF THEM SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED THEIR FELLOW SCUM BECAUSE THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HARLEY DAVIDSON, THEIR "CO-WORKERS" OR PRODUCING A QUALITY PRODUCT! iF YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW QUALITY HAS BEEN SINCE THE "RE-STRUCTURING", DRIVE BY THE PARKING LOT (THE PLACE WHERE EMPLOYEES THAT GAVE A SHIT USED TO PARK) AND COUNT ALL OF THE TRAILERS THAT ARE PARKED THERE. WHAT'S INSIDE THESE TRAILERS ARE JUNK ASS MOTORCYLCES THAT MANAGEMENT AND ENGINEERING DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH (LEAKING BRAKE FLUID, STEERING & THROTTLE ISSUES, INCORRECTLY INSTALLED HARDWARE & COMPONENTS) THANKS TO THE DIRECTION THAT WHAT THIS COMPANIES NEW LEADERS THINK IS "MOVING FORWARD". JUST KEEP ROLLING THE SHIT OFF LINE, IT COUNTS AS A COMPLETED UNIT AND MAKES THOSE CEO AND UPPER MANAGEMENT BONUS CHECKS ALL SO NICE!

They say it, but don't mean it all the while supporting a push-back until pushed back at 'em. worked harder there than just about anywhere, and was still "expected" to volunteer at various events. They told me I was a fence sitter and needed to get with the program. I told them I didn't belong in their "cult"
