After taking tax breaks from the county, and state.Getting theira$$ kissed to keep them here, firing hundreds of long time employees.Posting record profits in a lousy economy. This ungratful, souless corporation don't want to pay what amounts to them as peanuts, well we see where their what York means to them.Thats the problem with this country.Short term profits over everything.I only hope when the economy picks up they can't meet demand because of their short sighted greed.

Yep, that would really, really fix them, when the economy recovers and THEY 'can't meet demand'. All the while laughin' on the way to the bank. Right on with your thinking though until that last sentence!

Greed on Harleys part. Where are they getting thier figures, the assesed value is inline. If the judge goes in favor of Harley, it will create other companies to follow. Another example of companies going after goverment money they can't go out and earn on thier own. If you can't be profitable, attacking the township will not help!

If Harley owns the land they should not have to pa extortion money to stay there They pay taxes on wages profits and every motorcycle is taxed. Time to figure out a new way to fund school or go to cyber schools were they can be outsourced like everything else.

A good thought to remember is when the housing bubble burst, values dropped 10% to 20%, or at least my property did and it is in good shape. The same would go with land, if no one is buying, the value drops... They are no different than any other company, if they over paid taxes, refund them, plain and simple!

I believe they/businesses should pay their fair share but have concerns that local government and municipalities are hawking businesses for more bucks, just like they have been doing to you and I, the regular homeowners for years.

Every time governments/municipalities think they need revenue they stick it to the tax payer and in that respect they act no differently than the Federal government. Taxpayers are NOT personal piggy banks to ANY level of government; get used to it!

Don't you see the trend here...every school district is dealing with lower income because York has lost jobs and the housing market has declined, resulting in a loss of income to the school districts. Meanwhile, the districts continue to spend excessively.
Just because the Harley name is attached to this story causes most to immediately argue against them, but in fact, they are no different than any other business and have every right to argue the value of their assessment.
Central better have a plan for the future. If you haven't noticed all the construction going on at Harley, they are downsizing and razing buildings. What is the district's plan when there is nothing left but an empty parking lot and it is owned by the York Industrial Development group. My guess is that the property will be assessed even lower once all the construction is done. Now what....

Harley already took this issue to court and had their assessment lowered in 2006, they did not appeal that decision at that time and appear to have been happy with having their assessment lowered by more than 1/3rd, now they are attempting to revisit these same issues in another filing. The judge should throw out this case and force Harley to reimburse the districts legal fees.

Spurious lawsuits like these waste money that should be spent educating children in this district. Harley has decided to pursue this issue at this time because the political climate has changed, we should all take a hard look at what judge hears this case and where that judges personal interests lie.
