The MET team is has a good concept behind it.
However, they seem to cause more problems than they solve (at least in our store they do)

When they come in, we can look forward to them leaving behind carts of merchandise and garbage for us to deal with (I know this is not from returns, as I've seen the MET team members putting these items in the carts before discarding them in the back of our department).

They are now on a 'no clip strip' frenzy.
Which I understand they were told to do.
But we have some very high selling items with no homes, that we rely on having clip strips for so that customers are able to purchase the products they need. We now can't sell common items, because MET has taken them down and left them lying around in unknown sections of the store.

Despite being told by our store manager to leave some of our most important products up, they have week by week, continued to take them down and leave them in carts.
That is hardly a way to solve this 'clip strip' problem. Now many departments have missing items,
that we can't sell, because they have been lost in the MET team mayhem.

If they are going to help merchandise the store,
they should at least be trained to clean up the messes they leave behind.

Or have enough store knowledge and common sense to know how to handle actually selling and merchandise problems.

Instead of just ripping things off our shelves,
overstocking homes, and then leaving everyone else to deal with the aftermath.(we are missing out on plenty of sales, because all they know how to do is follow a planogram, and pay no head to what customers actually need, or purchase a lot)

There should be more communication between the MET team and department staff.

I am on MET in a store in Ontario, Canada. I an tell you right now that the store would flounder without us. Our sales have gone up threefold since the MET program started here 2 years ago. ALL of the managers have said on numerous occasions that our team is such a great help. Most of the aprons are useless and lazy. We don't get projects done because we are too busy helping customers which is what the aprons are to be doing. Nevermind us having to do most of the pack down and putting up o/s on top of our duties. We have all been badged wayyyy more than any of the aprons. So before you all go yapping about how shitty MET is, you should remember that some of us DO work hard and that there are quite a few aprons who "don't do shit", to quote some of the other totally-professional posts here.

I struggle with loving the job and hating the pay. I love the work, but can barely make ends meet. I have been training new MET associates who are getting paid more than I make. They are hired straight off the street. Go figure. How do I get a pay raise to their level?

The job has changed since I joined the team. We are tackling major issues that have been ignored by former MET members or undone by store associates. When we are allowed to spend the time to fix it, there may be hope for the stores after all. It is still a dirty and exhausting job. But, I love it.

I used to be in sales, now I find that I have to cultivate relationships with the store associates and DHs and managers. I wish others would see the advantage to this. Some stores are just more challenging because of their volume. The associates can't keep up either. So we are their back-up in sales and merchandising. More and more responsibility will come as they trim the sales staff, receiving staff and who knows what else.

Trimming sales isn't the answer really, the public will get tired of that soon enough. I don't think their role can be reduced anymore than it already has without negative effects for the company.

We have big resets coming in plumbing soon. I need to start working out. See you guys later.

I worked in a store then joined MET and am now back in the store and this site is awful. Please check what you write before you post it, the grammer mistakes make HD look bad.
Please people take the time to talk to your MET team because many of you clearly have not. I think it is terrible to see how many people have posted negatively about the people on their MET teams. Please remember that you are talking about people, like yourselves, with feelings and lives. I can tell you that I cared about my job, my department that I was responsible for and that I tried to learn the names of 700 people because I acknowledged that I was working with people in 7 stores. How many of the MET team members names do you take the time to learn? Now that I am back in a store there are people, even asm's, who look at me like they know me but are not able to call me by name without reading my apron. There is no perfect job at HD, we all struggle with something, but wouldn't it be better if we helped each other instead of calling each other names and pointing fingers?
Take the time to talk to each other, there will be a way to work together but not if we spend all our time pointing fingers at each other on opposite sides of the racetrack.

Face it everyone. Met will soon be split down into single stores, they will be the people that service our bays, do resets, small store projects, every thing but ad set.

How did you think the company is going to make up eliminating the closer positions? Thats not what you all should be bitching about, ask your self this:

How else will Home Depot compete with amazon?

Bye bye all full timers besides department supervisors and specialists. everything else will be temporary seasonal hiring.

you guys know met has temporarly and part-time hiring now to?

Wow this shocks me as a member of MET in Calgary I am shocked. The clipstrips in the the stores I service are left up if they are full. We only stock the ones that we are asked to.We only take down the ones that are empty. As for leaving carts around we would be in so much crap from our DS it wouldnt be funny. I hope with going to store centric this can be fixed in your store,

Wow, i recently applied at HD, requested many open positions, got a call back for met opening, with all this hostility towards met members i'm not sure i want to take the job now. I'm a very hard worker and do my best to NEVER leave jobs un-finished (which i hardly ever do) it happens, i'm not a machine, but if i join met will i be considered "lazy" or a "dumbass" just because of my job title? Just because some met members have performed poorly, does that mean ALL MET MEMBERS PERFORM POORLY? We should ALL WORK TOGETHER to make hd a fun yet constructive place to work. Like the man said "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." be part of the solution.

hi soon2bmet, welcome to the team,

I know that on these forums the squeaky wheels are getting the most attention. I also know, from experience, that the store associates, management and DH's (in the six store I travel to every 8 days) are glad to see us.

MET accomplishes not only general service and seasonal resets, but many TMO's that add new product to the shelves, decontaminate boxes and shelves scrambled by customers, and refresh bays that need new signage and restore a little order from time to time.

I am happy to provide general service and complete TMO's so the sales associates have more time to develop relationships with customers, answer their questions, quickly find products and be proud of their department.

I am very grateful when the sales associates find the customers and take care of them so I can focus on my tasks.

The dance we play between MET and the stores isn't perfect. It is a work in progress. This month is MET Appreciation Month. We have been treated to an afternoon tea and cake and morning bagels.

I show my appreciation every visit by thanking them for taking care of the customers, learning names, acknowledging sales associates, DH's and management and keeping them up to date on the work we've accomplished when we visit.

The griping and complaining on this forum, from both sides, is simply an anonymous stage to say things out loud they wouldn't say at work. Perhaps walking in each others shoes for a while would open a few eyes on both sides of this forum.

I am sure there are reasons we all do what we do, just need to open our eyes to a broader picture from time to time.

Good luck in your new job!!

Any idea if Crossmark, HGA Quest, or other reset teams are going to keep doing resets or will that eventually all go to the MET teams.....Why does HD still have these reset teams coming in if we have MET?? Thanks!
