Hammertime, if your a manager and you actually care then help us! It's not Just HR. HR can blow air all they want. If management isn't listening then it's doing no good. Even if HR did care it doesn't change the fact that the rest don't! Not just home depot but ALOT of people need to realize that if there is a lot of people complaining about something then something needs to be MANAGED. Not hated on because they don't Like what was said. Retaliating against it is just acting like an immature teenager! Lately, I've been wondering if anyone really gets more mature after the age of 16 or if they just learn to cover their lies and deceit better. Take some blame for yourself if you are to blame. It WILL NOT KILL YOU! If anything people will forgive you(unfortunately) and then maybe, just maybe, all the crap in the company can stop. Lead by example? If I actually did that, I'd be fired.

Oh yeah, I'm without a doubt one of the best associates in my store. But I only make as much as cashiers, that were hired after me but have all quit or been fired. I've been there 4 years and I'm a flooring specialist. But I make as much as the cashiers..... That's absolute b***s***. They didn't even give me a raise going from a sales associate to a specialist. They found a way to weasel around it. But I can't weasel around something and tell them because they'll make my life hell. It's not ok for them to do it! If I continue to work there then I am stupid for letting them walk on me. There is other stuff out there. But, unfortunately it's really hard to find.

I am so upset I cannot sleep. Several years ago I met a wonderful woman who designed my kitchen. She is a terrific person and was a very loyal employee of Home Depot for 27 YEARS!!!!! She did make a mistake- she is very honest and admitted that she broke a HD rule and gave the name of a person who could help build a patio for a customer. She only did this because she was asked, HD didn't have any patio building employees and she did not have any financial gain or anything like that. She admitted her mistake and promised never to do this again. So did she receive a warning Oh No. Today she was FIRED!!!!! A 27 year employee was fired to "make an example". She was a fine example of a loyal helpful employee but I am sure they can hire a young not very knowledgeable person for half her pay. Shame on Home Depot. This was evidently a decision made by the corp office in Atlanta ( sure to save them some pennies) I visited the store today and told the manager I will never shop at any Home Depot again. I hope if you can avoid this shameful company you will do the same. thanks for hearing my complaints and worries about my friend. Not a very Merry Christmas

I work at THD now. They still have problems as in employee intimidation, targeting certain employees, scare tactics if you don't stay and work past your schedule shift. Just this week alone in Mesa AZ a big wig landed in Phoenix and the 19 year ASM locked the doors at nine pm after the last customer and told the employees no one is leaving until all of the pack down gets done. I personally was scheduled till ten pm and stayed to eleven because the ASM intimidated all to stay. The store manager was home the other ASM's weren't called in nor the DH's but he took it out on the shift at the present. Some of us had to be back at 0700 or 0900 and 1000 am the next day! I've been there four and a half years and have been looking for a new job since day one. My age is a large factor present and elseware. Thanks for listening!

Wow, I just happened to run across this blog. I currently work for home depot and I agree with everyone here. It's only been 5 years so far and I've seen so many people come and go. From the wheel, to power hours, home depot has gone to a different direction. I stay cuz of the remaining good workers at my store. Every year my store clears out and fires so many people to cut hours, make bonuses and pay people cheaper. Why pay an veteran $25 an hour when they can train a monkey for $10.50 an hour? The new fast schedule that THD uses is VERY bad. It's a slap in the face when they give you a .35 cent raise after 5 years of work. But at the end ofthe day I have bills to pay and a student loan that won't go away.(I'm just venting y'all)

I can promise you, If the Attornies are smart and contact any of the "Current or Expelled Employees" of RSW in the "Miami-Deerfield" Branch They will be able to shut that RSW area down. The corruption found there is well+++ Unspeakable. Do I hear Civil Lawsuit? On monies owed & The outragious overcharges for services not renedered? The countless hours spent working and unpaid. Best thing for any employees now is run and do not look back.

Just remember, HD realizes that the economy is completely shot and finding a good job these days is few and far in between. They do not care about empolyee retention anymore like they used to. They want you to eat from their hands. They are perfectly happy replacing people every 3 months if they have to and pay them crap. This company is unrecognizable from what I knew it to be years back. I don't even enjoy shopping there anymore. Just avoid the place all together.

Management always refers to the "company culture" and how wonderful it is... Bullshit. In reality the company culture is largely a group of overpaid corporate bureaucrats running the company from the ivory towers in Atlanta (yes the corporate office towers are white/ivory in color) who do not want to hear any feedback what so ever from employees. Why should they? After all they are always the smartest people in the room. Store employees might be surprised at the number of people with MBA's, JD's and PHD's who work at the home office. The home office is a cesspool of corporate politics and is a place where the people in the stores are looked at as a necessary evil to operating the business.

THD even today is a place for rife abuse. The mgmt takes great pride in berating employees and every intimidating tactics they know. If they lack any their DMS step to teach them so. Racial discrimination is extremely prevalent except I dont know how to prove it when it is done in verbal comments or alluded to. A store in Arlington Tx recently harrassed an employ so much one day, that he died the same day from a heart attack. And for something a certain group of associates and supervisors accused him of doing. SM was an active participant of that harrasment. So how do you gather evidence on issues here. The so called HR personnel have no educational background or awareness of company policy..yet they are the favored ones and their MO is to harangue with crazy schedules. It is easy to ask why one continues to work there...people need jobs. There has got to be a way out if there was a way for employees to exchange info on a more regular basis and force the company to take a second look at how this company is being run.
