I was put on PIP because of missing sales plan and not meeting cc goals or signing up new PRO accounts. I was pulled in shortly after the six week plan. And fired. I had not met with my ASM for the last two weeks to go over the PIP. I figured everything was good to go we had made sales plan and brought up the CC to 50%. Also all the other things had also been done to the way they were suppose to be, while all the time I was having to do the work of an PASA and also cashier. Thinking real strong about a law suit. wrongful job termination just be able to prove those things improved between the start of the PIP and when you got fired

Houston area here, one of our District level people (James R.) is good friends with our stores Asst. manger of Operations (sydney), they tried to railroad our Store manager out of his job (Mike Z.), Somehow mike got out of it (Lawyer?), now today the two of them tried to get another asst. manager written up or fired (jason W.), by going to HR and claiming he was rude to James R. during a dept walk, and Sydney was a witness, and would back him up. Right now no one wants to even show up to work at this point, we have really good people, that are knowledgeable, but these guys are tearing the store apart. Other employees along with myself are going to be calling the aware line on everything the do, two can play at this game!

The Depot I work at also has the "clique". Our store manager and ops/sasm are both mean and treat associates like dirt under their feet. Our store manager constantly threatens people with firing them over any little thing. He constantly berates the department supervisors, and will implement verbal policies just to prove he's the boss. Thursday our regional manager walked the store, and a former employee told the regional about our store manager's behavior. I'm sure it got blown off as a disgruntled former employee who got hurt and had a law suit. I too have been threatened with being fired and pip for sales goals. It's sure not the same company that I started with 14 years ago!

We have found our squealer---- We have recently had a "Town Hall" with our Regional HR. Shortly after the supposed " Confidential" meeting, It was witnessed first hand that the HR was bringing up names & what was said to the ASM on duty. So much for our local HR.

Get this, I work in Tool Rental and my ENTIRE department got written up a month or so back because we weren't meeting our "attachment rate" for related merchandise. Management has told us, and I quote! "Add safety merchandise to the contract and explain to the customer if they don't use it they can return it with the tool and we will take it off their contract". We are essentially told to add merchandise to shoppers' carts! Home Depot is becoming a joke and with this economy, I can't leave. Plus I have been there enough to achieve 3 weeks vacation.

The aware line is a joke. You would not believe the things that I see at this company. I just found out that all specialty DSs will be punished for not meeting their credit goal. We are being made to stand at in front of endcap 1 and push credit for 4 hours straight every day until our credit goal is met. Do they give the customer any insentive to sign up for a 27% credit card, no. I am diehard against the unions but I'm sure if we had one, the SM wouldn't get away with this shit.

This is the problem when metrics are taken too seriously. It's not about serving the customer and it's not even about profitability. At our store, we "test" the call boxes to make sure that they are being responded to in a short enough time. Why? To meet metrics. Operations associates are put under merchandising department hours. This is also done to meet metrics. I am a DS and there are 80 hours a week on my schedule which are being used for operational purposes. This is something like 20% of my hours. That means the rest of us have to work that much harder to do our jobs. Yet we're held accountable for out-of-stocks etc. My store manager does all these things, but if I were to open a shitload of packdown labels and then close them to beef up my numbers, he would be pissed. Honestly, how can we respect the company's policies when they're not being honored by people above us? How can they hold us accountable when they're not being held accountable?

At our store the speciality associates are written-up each month if we our sales goal. Since customer count is down they expect us to go out and drag them in?

pgb949 wrote: Its Home Depots way to cut cost and eliminate exspenses to meet sales plan and have other associates from other dept cover floor hours..For the associated that had taken the self help courses to train in three other Dept in your area that was the goals to eliminate jobs and expenses to meet plans and bonus for the Store Mgrs I've worked for Home Creepo before, and I have to say you pretty muched nailed it when you said the part about the bonus's for store managers. I think any cost cutting in individual stores is geared towards getting the managers their piece of the company pie & for shareholder benefits. This is why they often come up with bullshit nonsensical so called reasons for firing people! It is all about the corporate bloodmoney!!

I am anti union personally, because in my experiance, they cause more trouble than they solve, but I don't think there would be anything to employees contributing to a pool to keep a good lawer on retainer to work on nHD associate cases on an as needed basis.

In my store the only reason some one is put on pip is because they have decided to fire them. It takes awhile before they do it but if you get one you might as well tell them to kiss your ass and walk out the door.

I have been with H/D for 7 year I have 3 sales awards for flooring sale (#1 Region)I am now at pro-deck, 6 month ago I got a great written piece of paper an a homer award for being #1 in the district ($1011.00 per hour for 2 quarter) but lately We got a new store manager, in the last month my stores average ticket has dropped 22% and customer count 28% my sales are still #1 in the store but today my manager called me in to his office today to ask why my sales are down I gave him those sales number and his answer was if i cant sale for him maybe I should think about a new job. This guy has maded me feel like I personally don't like him( my last manager an I were good friends)an thats why my sales are down. This is my 6th store manager in 7 years and with sales dropping I don't see him lasting long I just hope he does'nt take me down before he goes.

No need to worry anymore! They are eliminating PIP's... Good news? Nope. Coming soon managers will be able to terminate anyone on a third write up. Write ups can be for discipline or performance issues. Hopefully none of you have a DS or ASM that does not like you. If so- get working on your resume!
