As a DH we were informed today that we would be written up if our department missed sales plan for the month, and if we missed 3 months straight we would be put on a PIP. Does anyone know if this is legit? Or do you know how to contact corporate HR (Not just the Aware Line)? Or how to find out who my DHRM's boss is?

Should you be put on a PIP for missing sales plan in this economy? No. Can you be? Yes. They will use poor job performance as the reason for the PIP. Are you having any other issues, have you been written up/documented for anything other than missing sales plan? Is this happening in your district or only at your store?

Your DHRM's supervisor is your Regional HR Director, who should be located at your regional office. Call your regional office and ask for his/her name.

That sounds weak as hell. I've been a DH for 5 years and I've missed sales plan many, many times. Hell, everyone in mgt would be fired if that were the case.

There must be something else behind the threat, have you been screwing up lately?

There are way to many factors involved to be able to accommodate sales. CAR, TF, dozens of reasons that are for the most part beyond a DH's control.

The whole district is being treated to this joy. I personally have not been written up but once in the whole time I have worked there. It has nothing to do with individual performance, and therefore I can't see HD standing behind my district doing this, and the one we share a border with not abusing the DH's.

A couple Aware Line calls later and HR has nixed this crap! It is not in line with the core values and not something the company will stand behind!

I was put into the DH of prodesk and promised anything I needed to turn it around all I had to do was ask. I had been the DH of electricial and plumbing and always did an outstanding job. I was put on PIP because of missing sales plan and not meeting cc goals or signing up new PRO accounts. I was pulled in shortly after the six week plan. And fired. I had not met with my ASM for the last two weeks to go over the PIP. I figured everything was good to go we had made sales plan and brought up the CC to 50%. Also all the other things had also been done to the way they were suppose to be, while all the time I was having to do the work of an PASA and also cashier. Thinking real strong about a law suit.

It's all talk. You will never be put on a PIP for missing sales plan. Like someone said, many ppl would of been fired if that was the case.

dont try to figure it out. its what the hell hole does. understand this.....if you are not a part of the "boys club", if you have a working brain, if you dont kiss ass,if you have ethics, integrity, and morales, then Home Depot will find a way to terminate you. It is happening at an alarming rate. Are you over 50, making too much money? I hope you documented and kept copies of stuff. HD associates have to get it in their heads.. DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT! Because when your ass is fired over some half truth, concocted BULLSHIT, that documentation will come in handy! The management at this company is deplorable, unethical, immoral, disrespectful and have NO idea how to manage. Hardworking associates are penalized while those that cant do their job and schmooz with the management are protected. The SOP stands for Shit on People

i have been reading all the comments, but the most interesting one is about the boys club....if u are not what they want or part of the so called "boys club" u are in hell fire.... recently i was dragged in and reprimanded for not cleaning up the area in my dept and taking the trash out... There are several of us in the dept. and i was the only one whose ass got dragged in for this..When i asked ;"shouldn't this be the whole dept?" i was told everyone will be seen individually...later i got called back and was told the paper work will be shredded and everyone will be seen as a group and not individually..My concern is, "is this legal to have us sweep the floor and do other things such as taking the trash out etc"..which is normally done by a janitor who is so hired and HD have none of this service, except, for the guy who runs around with a foot mobil that does more harm than good!!!...

It is everyones job to keep there area and the store safe and clean, its not really anyones special job just something that should be done no matter what company you work for. Rich

I have worked with The Home Depot for 22 years, and, by far and away, have seen ethical, caring management. Has it been 100%? No, but those who have chosen to not follow our code of ethics have been weeded out- maybe not always as fast as everyone would wish for, but gone none the less.
If you are willing to work hard, keep the Customer uppermost in your efforts, and only expect to be rewarded for what you ARE doing, not what you SAY you can do- you can do what you desire, and make what you are willing to work for.

I have bben at the home depot for 3yrs now and the person that wrote about the "boys club" is exactly right. I am now at a differnt store and its slightly different but things are not done fairly or ethicly. The good workers do get over looked.

I dont think they can fire you for just missing sales plan (does the store manager get fired for not making sales?? in this economy you cant control it) but likewise...if you are poor performing in areas such as keeping the department clean or being in stock or having people problems or not doing paperwork or bad customer reviews etc.---i mean the performance review is all about customers first - we are not rated on sales performance. Id call the regional HR or aware line but keep it anonymous if you actually are put on a PIP...otherwise its just another empty threat
