First of all, I had two (ASM) assistant store managers that were dating the employees. One was Mike Hill, the assistant manager of the Home Depot store in Rockland, Ma, who got a 27 year old pregnant who worked at the pro desk. And the other one was Paul Bertencini, of Norwood, although i don't know if he is working there still. He got a little too horny and had his way with Andrea. The rest is history. - Gene

AT MY STORE IN JERSEY WE HAVE ASSOCIATES UNDER SAME RANKS..THAT ARE DATING. I BELIEVE SOP IS THAT IF U ARE ON ANY UPPER LEVER U CAN NOT DATE WITHIN STORE. FOR EXAMPLE WE HAVE DH'S THAT DATE. I KNOW THAT AS PER SOP IT SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.BUT DAMN HD DONT RUN THE WAY IT DID YERS AGO..

Holy crap. If you have to ask, it's probably not the best idea. I've known store managers who have "scored" how many associates they could "bang" (not my words). Don't do it and keep your reputation intact. As a wise man once said, "I don't sh*t where I eat."

Home Depot's in Corpus Christi Texas are now called HO depot. Too many unqualified hispanics who don't do their jobs just looking to screw anything with a hole.

There is official SOP but its really a store manager discretion type of thing. Associate -> Associate is OK. Dept Sup -> Associate OK ONLY if the associate is in a different department AND you're not a key carrier/MOD Salary -> Anybody = BIG BIG NO NO. ASMs can't even socialize outside the store with non salaries PERIOD. If associates show up to a bar that a salary just happens to be visiting the salary is expected to leave. I shit you not that is HD's policy for "officers of the company" (you're ALWAYS on the clock with depot for salaries)

Now don't bring Texas into this. This recession hasn't hit us yet ! The operators at Shell were offered 4.5% increase and turned it down.

I work for HD and it is the worst job to have in the world, I would rather be a garbage man, at least I wouldnt have to put up with the crazy SOP policies, management that shouldn't ever be allowed to manage anything, and the constant fear that you could lose your job over anything including not having a conversation with every customer you see in the store. I had a manager recently tell me that there was an employee coming in hung over, and a nother that had a family issue and lost a car that couldnt make it on time to work a few times, and that there was no difference between the two due to standard op procedure and he had to fire them both. This company is 2 steps away from being a concentration camp

Things are not always perfect. All companies have SOP's and Policies, however, human beings are just that, human. Only worry about yourself and making sure you are doing the right thing. Remember, just because someone is hired at any job does not mean you will agree or like it in the long-run. So, making hateful and generalized statements might be a reason to re-evaluate yourself and your job choices instead of blaming others or a company.

i work at ahome depot in PA, there was a dh dating a hc, not only did they date but they got married and had a baby together, and everything was fine, yet two cashiers started dating and they were told that one of them had to leave the store, yet the dh who is also a key carrier and the hc were not only dating but were married so why was it that one of the cashiers had to go but it was fine for those two, but i guess it all depends on who you know and who you blow, a lot of things what go on in the home depot is not fair and i think that a lot of managers need to take their head from their asses and stop playing favorites, if there is going to be one rule for one then there should be the same rule for all, and they should not pick and choose as to who can do what and who cant do what because then that causes a big divide within the store and if you are not part of the "click" then you have to always mind your p's and q's and walk on eggshells because anything that you do will be put iunder a microscope

Had a DH and HC who were married......all of a sudden "policy" changed and one had to leave the store and transfer to another.
Additionally had a ASM who begin dating an associate......began living together.....and the ASM was transferred to another store.

have been a key carrier for 8 years. been in a relationship w/ another d.h. for 2 1/2 years. just got told today that i have to turn in my keys due to policy changes in may of this year. although it states this policy is taken on a case by case basis-i'm not sure in what instance its allowed. its unfortunate that i have to change positions and lose my keys due to a policy that has been in effect for six months. i understand policy and work hard follow policy at all times-only found out about the nepotism change on dec. 7th

Well, written policies change. The sad fact is, once you accept "keys" and the responsability that goes along with it, you are accepting yourself as a "non-salaried member of management". It has been policy for quite some time at Home Depot that management is not allowed to date, though it happens. As a Key Carrier, you have to be held to the same standard as the rest of the management staff, and as sad as it is, give up your keys. If you complain or whine, you can pretty much bet that you will never be more than a DH anyway.
Cold hard fact is though, sometimes its just karma! Maybe not in your case, but its true. Call the awareness line on other associates because you have a personal issue with them. Complain about associates or other DHs that don't do there job, but at the same time you abuse the system and eventually you will get HIT WITH IT! Just like Stephanie is now! She had forced her hand in so many time it was bound to get BIT!
