Ya its our lovely new customer first program. We've taken in all kinds of things with competitor stickers one time it was an entire cart of tile concrete board and tile tools. I guess they just made up the $ for the refund.

Well ya :) but its now standard op. The managers are so afraid of something that they will drop trou and bend over in a hot second at the slightest whimper from a customer. Its rediculous. I wish I knew what comes down from higher up that has made them this way. I am all for taking care of customers especially when something goes wrong but come on there is a limit. Some days I'm not sure why we don't remove the registers and just lett them walk out with what ever they want.

I have seen wood come back stained and cut and we took it back. Half used cans of paint; took it back. Used and abused power equipment, took it back. A household pressure washer the customer ADMITTED to using for his business--broke and returned; HD took it back. People do it because THE BAR HAS BEEN SET THAT LOW. I used to think how horrible that was for customers to do that---but not anymore. Home Depot opened the door to that kind of return policy. I say, if you can't beat em, JOIN EM!!!

My issue with Home Depot is rebates. Twice my rebate has been declined "product-(paint) is not valid under this rebate" was sent in letter no email to respond to etc just home depot letter with logo. 1) As a designer I can get better paint- cheaper- My Client wanted to try it. 2) I asked if this was paint for rebate & the Home Depot employee gave me form for rebate & said yes to my question.
This has happened Twice on seperate paint promos which the second time I asked 2 seperate people @ home depot. Which they both told me the Behr paint was included in rebate. I got same letter instead of a check. The paint these clients insisted on was also the worst I have ever used.
As a Designer I know several well known Co.s make lower quality products for Home Depot. Plumbing & lighting etc. People assume they are getting the quality because of the name. If they want that quality they have to shop elsewhere. I never by these items from there, plus I get them cheaper & better quality. When I do a renovation I want it done right & to last.

"as a designer" blah blah blah we've heard it all before. as if claiming yourself to be a designer suddenly gives you a higher degree of intelligence and insight on what products companies make for other companies. cut the pretense. you might as well say something unoriginal and useless like "i spend hundreds of dollars here blah blah blah". we don't care, a lot of people spend hundreds of dollars at HD. you're one of millions, it's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. also, i'm no advocate of behr paint because i don't care to support HD brands, but have you not read up on ratings done by consumer reports on behr paint? and that glidden paint is actually pretty good middle-of-the-road stuff. have you ever walked into a specialty paint store? they have a range of paints from low quality up to top-of-the-line stuff. bottom line is, nobody here cares about your complaints, and most of us in the store don't care either. cry yourself a river..

Behr paint and stains ( a HD exclusive) are anywhere from 30 to 50% cheaper in the USA. Both are made in the USA And in the same package. HD simply rips us in Canada

This happened to me but they gave me the home depot price. Went to buy 3 toilets each cost 150 But with 15% discount that week on line. In store it was priced 169. They gave me 15% off but after leaving noticed they took 15 % of 169 not 150, so turned aroun with these 3 toilets And went to customer service. On my iPhone had the 150 price and 15% discount so they matches the price. Thank god they did not see the note on the fine print "prices may vary by store". I just walked out happy but could see this being an issue if the customer service rep was an ass. Point is print off and take to store, buy, then go to customer service and show them. If not match go to lowes, Rona or Canadian tire.
