Avandia warning may benefit Lilly

I am a class 2 dibetic patient.
I have been using Avandia for 3 years and am in control of my sugar level until 5 months ago I had MACULAR EDEMA in myleft eye. Iwas injected with AVASTIN in my eye which did not help.
The doctors then decided to inject me with KENALOG so I decided to consult a eye expert.
She told me that if I do so I would be in danger of losing my eye if I did this.
When I informed her that I was useing Avandia she told me that was the cause of The Macular Edema in my eye and stop using the pills.
One month later my diabetes expert confirmed this.
Do you have any comments on this.

I too have read about this eye problem with Avandia. My wife has the problem but her doc says Avandia is not the cause. May be true. Laser treatment, injections, eye drops, nothing is helping. Did you change drugs? Did this eliminate the eye problem?

My father has a problem with his left eye they did not call it Macular Edema. But he is not taking Avandia..Other Diabetic medications glucophage glyburide...Wonder if any relation?

In Diabetes Forcast (an American Diabetes Association magazine), there's an article about how this drug also significantly increases the risk for broken bones.

I'm not sure about stopping immediately. My good friend and I were both on Avandia and I quit it immediately and am monitoring my blood sugar until I can get into my doctor next week.

I also know of two other people who have done the same thing!

It's not worth the risk.

New drugs are on the way and I do hope they are safer too. They can't get here soon enough.
