I too has no relief from the Dr. Reddys and went through my prescription by trying to take more. I complained to CVS and they suddenly replaced it with another type of generic (no-name brand) which almost gave me a heart attack after 2nd pill... I want my brand name back-Imitrex

I have been using Immetrex with 100 % success since 2000. These generics are a sham... partial to no relief. Manufactured by a company , Penn Labs the GlaosmithKline pharma. comp . owns. Made in Singapore , who knows what is in it. , the origional is made in Canada. There is no comparison.

Nice topic.I used to live near the border and bought drugs occasionally from pharmacies in Mexico. You have to be careful because a lot of the "cheap" drugs they sell are really expired American drugs. S

So if Dr.Reddy's has a six-month exclusive for generic sumatriptan, when does that period end? Shouldn't it be now? Are there any other generic producers coming online soon that might be cheaper and/or better quality?

I just tried the Dr. Reddy generic Imitrex. The Dr. Reddy generic is authorized by Glaxo (ImitreX's manufacturer). Glaxo will check to see if proper manufacturing cotrols are in place. I researched this new generic, upon my receiving it.
what has your research shown....i have been given this generic and don't have confidence in drugs made in China.

I tried the Dr Reddy's generic imitred and they dont work. They are made in Singapore by Penn labs a division of glaxokline. I reported them to the FDA. Everyone should do this.

There are now two different Dr. Reddy's sumatriptan tablets. The first I was sent by my mail order pharmacy (insurance makes us buy by mail), looked, was packaged like, and worked as well as Imitrex. The last sumatriptan I received from my mail order pharmacy from Dr Reddy's was not the same at all. It was a small round pill with 292 imprinted on it. It made me very sick. Read on to hear what happened at what I'm doing about it.

292 didn't work well, but the worst was that 24 hours later I had a huge release of histamine in my gastrointestinal system. I had nausea, diarrhea, and sensitivity to light. I don't get those symptoms with my migraines, let alone have them every day after taking the 292 tablet for a migraine. I realize that many people get those symptoms with their headaches, but I don't.

That 292 round tablet made me sick every day after. Histamine is a 'wake up' neurotransmitter so I also can't get more than a few hours sleep at night. I felt a headache threatening every day till I finally got another migraine. Thankfully, this time I had some of the older sumatriptan that I'd had before and it stopped the histamine symptoms, but not till I'd had a migraine for 16 hours and had to take 50mg tablet 2 times to get rid of it.

I called my mail order people who blamed me. I'm going to complain everywhere I can, including to Dr. Reddy's as well as the FDA. People need to know that when we take generics from India we are taking a big chance.

Work switched my insurance company and I tried the mail order pharmacy. I ordered my sumatriptan (generic imitrex)and received Dr. Reddy's for the first time. It has 293 on the pills. I have had to take a pill each morning, every morning for over a week. The migraine eventually gets better (by afternoon, only to return the next morning). This brand doesn't works as well as Immetrex. With Immetrex, one pill and my headache left and stayed gone! So many of us suffer from migraines, when is someone going to come up with a preventative instead of making millions on bandaids-drugs that either just stop the pain for a while or don't do the job they are suppose to?

I have used Imitrex for about 5 years with nearly 100% success, within 2 hours. Last week my prescription was converted over to the generic Dr. Reedy's version. I had an attack this afternoon. After taking a 100mg does of the generic, I suffered for 5 hours with absolutely no relief. Out of desparation, I took a brand name Imitrex at 50mg, within 2 hours I had full relief. I have no more migrain, but I am a little worse for wear after 7 hours with the nausia and throbbing.
How can they this crap? Shouldn't it be against the law or at least insurance fraud?
Yes, David I have been using Imitrex for a decade and the last headache I had I took 4 sumatriptan (Dr. Reddy) pills within 2 days.(.25 always worked within l/2 hr.) What is happening?
Is there any quality control anywhere?

The new Dr. Reddy's can't be opened without scissors. Since I don't carry scissors in my purse or my suitcase, and don't usually keep scissors in my bathroom, this is a problem.

Generics work but not dr reddys brand. Who know why. I have used it several times with no relief for my migraine but did get stomache pain and aching muscles.
