Is there a Ron Paul Media Blackout?

Full story: dailycaller.com

Politics Staff Story

If you spend a lot of time on political comment threads, you’ll be familiar with the idea that the mainstream media are boycotting Ron Paul. Is there really a Ron Paul media blackout?

On today’s politics pages in The New York Times and Fox News, Paul is mentioned less than half as many times as Romney or Santorum.

He received a vote share close to theirs in the Iowa Caucuses and is polling twice as well as Santorum in New Hampshire, but polls at only 12% nationally (compared to Santorum’s 21% post-Iowa bounce).

The conservative blog, The Daily Caller, reports that

The number of news stories referencing Romney far outnumbered those mentioning Paul, Santorum and even Kim Kardashian in New Hampshire, but both Paul and Kardashian are more popular Internet searches than Romney, according to Google Trends.

Stephen Kornacki, writing for liberal website Salon.com, says yes, there has been a media blackout, but it has probably benefited Paul’s campaign because he has avoided the media feeding frenzies that have torpedoed other candidates, notably, Cain and Gingrich.

The virtual press blackout also meant that the [racist] newsletters weren’t being mentioned, and that Paul wasn’t facing the intense day-to-day scrutiny that took a toll on other GOP candidates when they enjoyed breakthrough moments this year. It allowed him to present himself to audiences on his own terms and helped him become something of a sympathetic figure.
Kornacki’s argument sounds good, but it goes against findings that surges in media attention lead to surges in the polls.

Do you agree? Is Paul unfairly ignored by the media? Has it helped or hurt his campaign?

Look at the ending of the 2008 campaigns and it is obvious that Paul's ratings nosedives.

No evident reasons, none. Capricious media or liberal forces, neither justifies intentional exclusion of a candidate from from public view.

Censorship at its best, we need to retake our government, all incumbents must go, each and every one.

RON PAUL is the ONLY one to the right of Hillary Clinton. Hell, Newtie says Romney is to the left of Kennedy. I only thought he was to the left of Obama, but, hey, I'm not a highly-paid LOBBYIST, I mean, "historian".

Enough of this caffeine addicted chihuahua, he needs to take his nuttery and hold court in some greasy spoon in Texas with a bunch of pensioners who meet on Mondays to hate on Obama.

Regarding the 2008 election, in my own county I personally know 5 times more people that voted for Ron Paul than the official vote count. So yeah, the system is rigged.

I don't like RP but do find that FOX and the Rep establishment ignore him and want him to go away.

No different than left media and Dem establishment did to Ralph Nader and would do again if he ran.

BOTH parties to a large extent want "same ole" .
They will tolerate some policy but they will not tolerate special interest big money groups being kicked to the curb.

Ron Paul and Ralph Nader have spoken out against big money special interest lobbyiest and that is not acceptable with EITHER party.

Paul chooses not to go on media. He's a terrible boring interview and it's easy to tell he is not comfortable doing interviews with his snippy short answers he wants it over as soon as possible.

RON PAUL 2012!
Lets get it right and stop with FALSE statements. Paul put out attack ads in Iowa which were false and now it come back on him.

Gingrich STATED that Romney is a MODERATE

Show where Gingrich was a knobbiest. Prove it

Gingrich is the ONLY candidate that has a PROVE record and worked with a Democratic president to get things done!!!
Passed a BALANCE BUDGET
Reformed welfare
Provided jobs.
Bill Clinton stated this on nation TV 3 weeks ago on CNN and FOX

Gingrich was a private CONSULT IAN There is a difference

LISTEN TO THE DEBATES and learn and stop being a sheep following a NUT JOB Paul. He has dropped to 4th place in the NATIONAL POLLS.

Get facts straight.
Paul is disappear soon with his crazy platform and no way to implement.

Gingrich is on the rise AGAIN after the dirty politics from Paul in Iowa!!!!
Paul stated himslf He don't see himself in the White House. That says it all. He is just running to split the vote

Of course they are blocking RON PAUL out. He's the only candidate that represents the American people and our desire to see our representatives conform to the Constitiution they took an oath to protect, and to restore our founding principles.

RON PAUL is the only candidate speaking out on our behalf to rid this country of the invasion of privacy and restriction of rights the big government progressives of both parties have bestowed upon us in blatant violation of our Constitiution and Bill of Rights.

Ron Paul is the only candidate that wants to bring peace and prosperity back to OUR country, by bringing the troops home, securing our borders and have a strong National defense here at home that doesn't get involved in undeclared, endless wars and nation building that drain us financially and threaten our stability.

So yes, the media blocks Ron Paul because he is a threat to the establishment that runs and controls the media and sets back their plan which has us on a path to destruction in which the few powerful elite rule the poor.

Ron Paul is the only honest, good candidate, who will take care of real interests of USA and US citizens, the only chance for USA and he is not corrupt, he is not supported by criminal lobbists, who support all these moronic candidates, that´s why he is ignored. I don´t understand it, USA is at the brink of economical collapse, it will be connected with poverty - the only normal candidate, the only hope for USA is just Ron Paul and he is ignored by media. But bushlike morons are promoted. It was time - 8 years with Bush and it is not time to vote for more bushes. It is the last time to change and to have normal president.
