For now they are. We do not have the technology to change? If we get rid of gas cars the price of these items will be dirt cheap because there will be too much oil on the market. they will just stop drilling and drive the price up.how about we actually be self sufficient in energy and drill ourselves,nuclear power,coal natural gas and produce millions of jobs and tax revenue as well.No way you will ever get rid of oil Tires are oil made,lipstick,makeup Vaseline,chapstik and other accessorizes for facial needs ect are oil based,car are responsible for only 15% of oil use.,We need other forms of energy like i said Nuclear,clean coal,natural gas,better built buildings,homes ect and if we can increase our use of wind,solar for energy from 1% to 5% that would cut down some but not alot.

Selling to off-shore buyers should be illegal. If our government outlawed-it we wouldn't be talking to India and the Phillipines for tech support. If companies were forced to employ domestic citizens only, the US market would in fact balance itself out eventually. Prices and services would match the demand and price-points would settle at a point determined by our ability to support them as a nation.

When McCain suspended his campaign and hopped a plane for Washington, a prominent Republican with McCain and President Bush and others, in the White House discussing the economic crisis, said that McCain was "the least creative person in the room.... He simply had no ideas, He didn't even have any good questions."
The Bush-oil administration was on the way to wrecking the economy with skyrocketing gas prices before the banking and financing corporations, free to wreck everything else, kicked in - and McCain did't even have a clue.
The economy is recovering thanks to Obama. Maybe Obama can get us off this Arab-oil addiction with increased CAFE standards, electric cars, whatever it takes, to stop the oil barrons - and Wall street - from ripping us off again.
