I have to gree with you there. Now those incompitent buffoons in Washington are talking about a value added tax. The only thing that's good about that incompitent idiot Obozo and his tax evading administration is that we won't have to worry about another terrorist attack on our soil. The bad thing is that the terrorists realize all they have to do is wait, and Obozo is going to do all their dirty work for them. He'll personally take down this country for them.

Detroit, especially GM, has fought progress to the point that now, nothing can save them though Obama tried. McSame would have only put more money into the hands of the rich, caused even thousands more to suffer lost jobs even faster and, the economy would now be classified as a complete depression - worse than the 30's.
When McCain suspended his campaign and hopped a plane for Washington, a prominent Republican with McCain and President Bush and others, in the White House discussing the economic crisis, said that McCain was "the least creative person in the room.... He simply had no ideas, He didn't even have any good questions."
The Bush-oil administration was on the way to wrecking the economy with skyrocketing gas prices before the banking and financing corporations, free to wreck everything else, kicked in - and McCain did't even have a clue.
The economy is recovering thanks to Obama. Maybe Obama can get us off this Arab-oil addiction with increased CAFE standards, electric cars, whatever it takes, to stop the oil barrons - and Wall street - from ripping us off again.

In a free market economy the most efficient operator wins. The US auto companies engaged in greed, sucking out the revenue with the fat SUV's and pickups. They were leveraged to the hilt and when the credit crisis hit it was like a business atom bomb. Before that happened the CEO of GM made almost $40 million a year, looks like good money spent....not. The US auto companies were worse whores than Marylyn Chambers. The really ugly part is the UAW union let them get away with it. Quid pro Quo. They both deserve it It really sucks, I feel bad for the old school GM pension recipients from the 50's and 60's. Looks like that pension is gone. I think this is the end of US unions in all categories other than US government positions. Its is a sad day and it sucks, the big corporations will win this round in the economic depression of 2009.

If the government wanted to take over GM it coulld have simply bought all of the outstanding stock for less than 2 billion and then reorganized it. The 8 billion we gave them is down the toilet

Oh goody. Now that the government and the UAW own approx 90% of GM the union workers can look forward to more raises and a shorter work week - until they loose their jobs altogether. Unions destroyed the steel industry, airplane manufacturing, several major airlines and now the auto industry. Let's see, where else can you see the positive results of the unions ? The Post Office ? Our schools ? I say we organize the healthcare professionals into unions. Yea, that's the ticket. Only good things could come from that.

This all goes back to the Bush adninstration and the "Bush, Ruin America Agenda". Eight years of devastating America.
Bush, that worthless piece of crap, embarrasment of a president played right into the terrorists hands. He declared war on an entire country for the doings of some religious fanatics, and by passed the U.N.in the process (no other President would dream of doing such a thing). This irresponsible and reactive act was the beginning of all of what we are now seeing. Obama continues to print money with no backing in an attempt to "stimulate" the economy.$250.00 isn't going to change anyones life.
As a former Special Ops, Viet Nam era veteran, I could tell you the M.O. of terroists is to covertly bring about a major attack resuting in disaster, and they did that. Next is to break down a nations economy and they have done that. Finally, with little or no defense, take over is easily accomplished and that may be next.
We are so far in the woods, an Indian Guide couldn't get us out and its all due to people like Bush and his disgusting cronies making reactive and bad decisions while going around bullying the World.
In the meantime the American economy and it's people now hang in the balance.

Gee, why don't you tell us how you really feel ?

Let's not forget the first WTC bombing, the embassey bombings and the USS Cole attack. And the response by BJ Bill who launched that retaliatory strike against an asprin factory. The schoolyard bully loves to pick on the kid who doesn't respond. No threat. Now we have N. Korea, Iran, Venezuela, the Taliban resurgance,, all lining up to 'steal our lunch money'. Thanks Bill, Madeline, Hilary and Barak, Those talks went a long way to making the world a much safer place.

All of this happen because of the oil companies and their greed. The oil companies bit the hand that fed them. If gas was cheap none of these car companies would be hurting.
The car companies depended on cheap oil for their products. If I was a car company I would only make cars that did not use any oil for revenge. We do not need the oil companies and I do not want the oil companies investing in alternative power because they do not need to have a monopoly on energy.
Once the car companies makes cars and trucks that use less oil and gas they will be alright. The oil companies made a big mistake by getting too greedy; it’s going to cost them in the long run. It’s going to take a few years but oil will go out like the dinosaurs.

Why do we treat GM as if it is not a private company ? They got themselves into the financial mess they are in. Yhe Government should not ever give money to bail out a private industry. The company was terribly managed and they should pay the price by going out of business.

OUR NEW ADMINISTRATION IS SO FAR CREATING MASSIVE DEBT AND BY TRYING TO RUN AIG....GM......ALL THAT THEY ARE DOING IS TAKING THE PROBLEMS AND LOSSES THESE COMPANIES ACQUIRED AND TRANSFERING TO WASHINGTON MAKING EVEN A BIGGER LIABILITY FOR TAXPAYERS AND THEY WILL BE RUNNING THESE COMPANIES IN THE NEGATIVE FOR YEARS TO COME JUST LIKE THE POST OFFICE WHICH LOSES BILLLIONS A YEAR AND JUST LIKE THESE COMPANIES THAT ARE TOO BIG TO FAIL AND DID IT CAN ALSO HAPPEN TO OUR GOVERNMENT AND WILL IF THIS ADMINISTRATION IS NOT CONTROLED BUT I THINK NTHAT IS WHAT OBAMA WANTS

Record profits for the oil companies.

For now they are. We do not have the technology to change? If we get rid of gas cars the price of these items will be dirt cheap because there will be too much oil on the market.
