I know- let's bail out GM so they can send EVEN MORE production out of the US. my Toyota is more of an "americ an" car than my Lincoln(made in Mexico)

The government will own 60%...I hope I am reading that wrong. What type of economy is based on government run business? It almost sounds like socialism-couple that with government run health care and I see a recipe for the USSA (United Socialistic States of Americ.) Like I said-I hope I am wrong.

Think about this one. On the weekends they will have Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Nancy Pelosi hawking cars on GM lots. How would you like to tell any of those people that you need a sweeter deal. They are going to want you to declare you party before they come back with your best price.

What's good for the General is good for America. So much for America. But let's be honest- it's Americans that voted for this with their pocketbooks. For me, I'd rather drive an American car that some say is not as good as an import. I don't see it that way, but it's their argument, and now 10% of the nation's jobs. My grandmother used to say in effect, don't crap in your own nest. It's going to be funny watching Americans in their Hondas driving around with great efficiency, looking for an American job, one that probably left them for the same reasons, cheaper cost, better quality workmanship, etc. Ha ha for now.

The American Auto Worker would love to have a job in the Honda and Toyota facilities which are in America and employing Americans. Not too long ago a new Honda plant opened in Indiana while the BIG THREE were closing plants down. At one point I thought the same way as you do until I bought a Toyota and discovered what quality manufacturing is all about. I do not want to pay for a car out of loyalty to the UAW and the Big Three. They put out a lousy product and we pay for it. Ford has begun to figure it out and their quality is improving. Let GM and Chrysler fail.

Wow. Only about 7 posts before Bush was blamed for this bailout. I think it was Lincoln. Not sure how, but he was a Republican and his name fits the situation.........so why not?

Would anyone considering a GM car purchase?

I am going to stroll through a GM lot some future weekend to see what idiots are working on deals with the salesmen. I'll probably see Roland Burris and that would be understandale. He's a clown.

Who could possibly want to be involved in a company where our over=spending government is responsible for 60% of the cash?

And the UNION and GOVT are directing things?????

That combination is as doomed to failure as a Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell romantic date.

1. Maybe this will enlighten some Americans to the negative affects of Unions.

2. And I hope generate some CEOs that drive our economy and jobs to use some logic, common sense, and forward thinking.

Eliminate the first and improve the 2nd and there's some light at the end of the tunnel.

In exchange for us the taxpayers providing GM with billions of dollars, as a "reward" we are receiving sixty percent ownership of GM.

Lucky us. In other words, that is really some "reward" we are receiving. In fact, it reminds of the story that first prize is one week in Philadelphia and second prize is two weeks in Philadelphia.

This may end up being good for the economy. GM now has some great cars, the new Camaro, the new Buicks, and what about those beautiful new Imapalas and Malibus. I think their quality is getting very close to Toyota and Nissan, I think the J.D. Power rating on the new Buick is very good.

No such thing as socialist, SOMEONE ALWAYS HAD CONTROL OF THE MONEY, JUST NO THE WORKING CLASS. The word you are looking for is Fascist..read below

Fascism comprises a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology[1][2][3][4] and a corporatist economic ideology.[5] Fascists advocate the creation of a single-party state.[6] Fascists believe that nations and/or races are in perpetual conflict whereby only the strong can survive by being healthy, vital, and by asserting themselves in combat against the weak.[7] Fascist governments forbid and suppress criticism and opposition to the government and the fascist movement.[8] Fascism opposes class conflict, blames capitalist liberal democracies for its creation and communists for exploiting the concept.[9] In the economic sphere, many fascist leaders have claimed to support a "Third Way" in economic policy, which they believed superior to both the rampant individualism of unrestrained capitalism and the severe control of state communism.[10][11] This was to be achieved by a form of government control over business and labor (called "the corporate state" by Mussolini)[12][13]No common and concise definition exists for fascism and historians and political scientists disagree on what should be in any concise definition.[14
