The UAW gets a 39% stake in GM for their 10 billion dollars and the BOND holders get a 10% stake for THEIR 27 billion?

On WHAT planet does THAT make sense?

Only in Obamaworld.

What do YOU think is going to happen the next time Investors are asked to "invest" in a company, a business, mortgage backed securities to prop up the banks, huh?

I'd tell Obama to go to h*ll.

My advice to GM? Go through an outright bankruptcy. No packages, no deals, nothing. The bond holders are secured creditors in a bankruptcy, the UAW is not.

Get the UAW claims discharged, sell off the assets, move the other assets to a NON UNION state, and start over.

If they won't negotiate, there's no reason to bother worrying about them. They helped cause this problem, but won't take responsibility, just leave them by the side of the road.

Let them sell off their swanky golf course and resort if they need money so badly.

Welllllllll wellllllllllll wellllllllllll, look at that.

DETROIT is not even pleased with the way Obama is handling the auto bailouts.

http://www.detnews.com/article/20090527/METRO...
Michiganians appear evenly divided in their belief that President Barack Obama's heavy involvement in restructuring the auto industry is doing more harm than good, a Detroit News/WXYZ survey shows.

With Chrysler LLC in bankruptcy proceedings and General Motors Corp. apparently ready to follow suit, 42 percent of poll respondents say Obama's role has hurt the domestic automakers while 39 percent say he's been helpful. The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Look at that, 42% say Obama’s role has HURT the domestic automakers, while 39% say he’s been helpful.

Geeeeee, maybe people in DETROIT realize, in Obamaworld, giving Bondholders a 10% stake for their 27 billion dollars...

And giving the UAW a 39% stake for only 10 billion MAKES NO SENSE.

The automakers know it, the investors in the world know it...and the nation is starting to hear about it.
Among Metro Detroiters, 43 percent said he has helped the industry compared to 36 percent in the rest of the state. Also, 56 percent of Democrats, 40 percent of independents and 19 percent of Republicans say the president's involvement has been helpful.
Look at that, even amount the “city elite”, only 40% of independents think he is doing a good job.

Another little ditty there, this poll had Obama’s JOB approval at 54%(FIFTY FOUR PERCENT) when it was conducted 2 months ago, and only now mentions it when it is has rebounded in it’s poll by 7 points back up around 61%.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. And even now, the independents only give him 40%, and THAT state is saying that less than 50% think Obama’s involvement in the auto industry has been a good thing.

When the government gets involved in ANYTHING, it’s not a good thing. Government is inefficient at EVERYTHING except defending our nation.

And Obama wants to EXPAND this kind of “helpfulness.”

Send the democrats home next election. Don’t elect them to ANYTHING.

On WHAT planet does THAT make sense?

This is probably why the Stakeholders have turned down the deal and GM is expected to seek protection under the bankrupcy act.
Is there anything more evil than the Unions?

"GM announced yesterday that if a substantial number of bondholders agree to support its bankruptcy plan, they collectively would receive a 10 percent stake in the new company and the ability to buy an additional 15 percent share if the recovery of the automaker reaches certain thresholds....

In return, the U.S. government would own 72.5 percent of the new GM, according to the company's filings. The Canadian government and the province of Ontario would also receive some equity in return for debt financing. The union's health trust would receive 17.5 percent."

washpost

Where are you getting 39%? These are unsecured bond holders, aren't you a capitalist who believes in risk?

I didn't and would never vote for a democrat especially Nobama or Barry or whatever his name is! But these old farts need to live on social security only like many elderly people in the US. So they can't go to the casino a couple times a week or florida for the winter. Big deal. Stay home and play cards.

Yeah, but people in Detroit are so stupid, they'll vote for Obama again. Just like they voted for Kwalme Kilpatrick even though they knew he was a crook; and Colemen Young was elected over and over...

I don't think it's all THAT bad. I don't recall ever getting anything free from the Salvation Army, nor would I want to. I certainly hope we don't have to eat Buffalo. There aren't enough to go around. Humans are the only creatures on earth that kill needlessly and deplete their own food source.

I used to buy a new car or truck every 2-3 years, now i will never buy new again after hearing about all those pensions. My last was a 2007 silverado, which was way over priced, now i know why. Never again for me! The unions all over the country must go.

You do know that the CEO of Ford commutes to work from Seattle in the company jet. His wife also has access to it as well.

I guess that $23 million benefit package for GM's Wagoner didn't add anything to the cost of your car either. That one's a doozie because the company also lost $75 billion and went bankrupt while he was at the helm.

Yes, it is always the fault of the line worker.

What an idiot.

I agree that the CEO's robbed the company blind, but that was millions. The unions helped the line workers get billions in pay, pensions, health care ect. They are the ones who will kill the company after the bankruptsy. They are way over paid, and the pensions are rediculous, get rid of unions. Why do you think 47 out of 50 states are in trouble, because of all of the unions and gov workers.

I have had buffalo stew and buffalo burgers in South Dakota and they were quite good. But there aren't many of those animals left in areas where they used to thrive.

I used to buy a new car or truck every ten or eleven years. But when I added up how much money I saved each time I paid the vehicle off and drove payment free for five years or so, I decided I'd rather make myself wealthy, not the auto companies. So I also don't buy new cars any more. I am a union member and you're right, they suck. Yet there's nothing I can do about it. To keep my job, I must be in the union.
