House bill offers vouchers to replace gas-guzzlers

So everyone who has been driving a gas guzzling vehicle, that causes more pollution, increased our dependence on more imported oil, and drove up the price; is now being rewarded for doing so? And someone like myself who has been driving, made in the USA cars that get over 20MPG for the last 25 years, gets nothing?obama and the dems in congress, are out of their minds.

While I agree with incentives to get people to buy more fuel efficient cars, the idea of destroying the trade-ins is a bit wasteful.

Which MPG standards will they use as the criteria for voucher??

Old or New(2008)??

If New, will the Gov make a table that reflects the low MPG numbers for each of the older make and models?

It is interesting to me that since FIAT (Fix It Again Today) has "bought".......excus e me.......stolen Chryler......that now Italians will be driving all the "Dodge Ram" pickups with the huge engines.......polluting up a storm all over Europe..........it just doesn't seem to be a problem about how much these vehicles "pollute".

There is one F-A-C-T in this world.........the RICH will ALWAYS have LARGE, POWERFUL vehicles.......and all while "YOUR MAN" Bomomma wants Y-O-U to drive a "Fred Flintstone" car..........I'll BET Michelle wouldn't be caught de*d in one of the "new, exciting, tin cans").........you Bomomma water-carriers are such F-O-O-L-S, I can't believe you are able to function.

Are people so poor that they have to "trade in". My vehicles are paid for.......I WILL NOT be "trading in".......if I CHOOSE to buy another one......I will "buy"........but NOT because Bomomma says so..........

A voucher paid by who? Us.

....and this idea will work as well as the rest of the hair brain ideas.

The buyer receives a "voucher". I'm sure that's after they have bought the car(cause they'll need proof), and what dealer is going to accept a voucher and wait to get paid from the government?

Further, what good is the voucher to the dealer? It would be applied as a down payment and not a reason to make a dealer scrap a car. The dealer can make as much money on the trade as the new car deal itself, so why in the world is the dealer going to scrap the car?

Geez, if they pass this bill, it will be a true clusterphuck.

The new Hitler strikes again.

In an apparent crackdown on Internet gambling, federal authorities in New York have frozen or seized bank accounts worth $34 million belonging to 27,000 online poker players, according to representatives for the players and account holders.

In an operation that began last week, the office of the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York froze or issued seizure orders for bank accounts in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Arizona held at Wells Fargo, Citibank, Goldwater Bank and Alliance Bank of Arizona.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office had no comment.

This is just TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT INVOLVEMENT ... business, personal affairs, credit, incentives, etc., etc. The more the government does or makes others do for the people of a country, the more control it has, the more it goes against the principles this country was founded on...democracy, working for ourselves and providing for ourselves...and the more it becomes socialist or communist...where the government takes care of or provides for the peoples' needs and wants. This is just too scary.
