We will all be better off after GM's bankruptcy. We will have cars that we want to buy and the USA will be stronger. Why would I want to buy a car that will destroy the environment? I do not! But thanks to the GM restructuring and Pres. Obama's environmntal policies. I can now live in a better and more competitive world. Change is in the air!

Just look at what Obama's help has done to GM's stock! He ransacked a $6.95 per share stock and obliterated it into .75cents. At least Obama's consistent. Ford, the only non-nationalized U.S.Automaker, has a Fusion Hybrid getting an amazing 41MPG!! Highest in the industry for a mid-size. That Fiesta coming out is economic, safe and sharp. Henry would be proud of Alan Mulally. Keeping capitalism alive for our childrens future. Amen !! to that. Couldnt say it any better

What happens to the batteries when they die? Hmmm get burried in the ground at dumps? Hows that better on the environment? car dont destory the environment, people do. Cars dont even cause global warning as Quale states. Did you know a vocano causes 10x more gobal warming than all the cars in the states? America doesnt need japaneese cars like the prius when Ford is making a gas car that gets 41mpg which is much better than the prius's mpg. Its people like you (Tree huggers)who produce all this hype and wants to ruin the muscles cars that are out there ( oh they ruining our world) well theyve been around a lot longer than hybreds and we are all still alive. Damn tree huggers

The Banks are already diving into this deal, and judging by last thursday's bond volume appetite for this deal is big. You don't want that bet, move aside, they are waiting for the first issuance after bankruptcy. Actually, that number was 13.4 Billion not 13 billion, and it was Bush who gave handed it over, funds were made available from the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 on Dec 19, 2008. Bush used executive authority to declare that TARP funds may be spent on any program he personally deems necessary to avert the financial crisis. Obama directed Justice department to take that matter to court since it was illegal. I've been through dozens of bankruptcies, the only difference on this one is the size. This is looking quite smooth and GM will be back with no debt or legacy costs and one of the lowest labor costs in the global industry. Payback to US taxpayers will be ridiculously good and majority scheduled within the first 24 months. <quoted text> So how would GM pay back the tax payers on the bail out money wasted? Dont want any cars from them unless its a Corvette. What will happen with Corvettes future and GM? Cobalts I hope will die No Offense

Joe wrote: For the TARP funds, that is already in court, so if it completes successfully, it will be converted as part of the restructuring agreement that is already in place. Technically, only 9.4 billion was released in December, so the other 4 is already part of the restructuring agreement. The only name brand disappearing from GM right now is Hummer (being sold off to settle with creditors--taxpayer and bondholders). The sportscar division, passenger and truck divisions are going to remain whole. Some of the brands are going to be folded into other brands, like Pontiac. GM derives alot of its potential growth in foreign markets, so the Colbalt will primarily be designed for export. <quoted text> an GM just give all paying and harding tax payers free Corvettes? I would settle for that :)

Nyaah, Hummers are knock-offs of the military vehicle Hum Vee. Hum Vees will continue to be manufactured by American General. In America, I should probably add. But you do make a good point, every time Wal-Mart is out of Camo clothing, China's military makes the news on manuevers. cobaltsdosuck wrote: GM sucks so bad, They should just give us our money back they owe us in taxes and just die. Well since the taxpayer owns about 60% of GM, if GM fails again we could always burn the buildings to collect the insurance money. NO WAIT! AIG Group insures GM, and we own AIG now too! AARRGHH! Boy has Obama ever got us by the shorthairs now! DOH!
