All I want is a nice basic reliable car and oh yeah manual transmission is a must. A frustrated woman driver. Response: Yes, less is more and a manual is a must for me also.

not lowering myself wrote: Buick Lacrosse is the most reliable mid sized car you can buy. Another idea: Don't overuse them. Avoid drive thrus every day which only puts pressure on power windows. When you need to cool down the car (AC not working), alternate between the windows. Keep the AC charged up so you can cut down on power window motors. Crank a window down manually and you won't have to worry about over use of a window motor. Problem solved.

I too would like to find a vehicle with no power windows and very few electronics. I even miss the cars with vents for those days where you just need a little bit of cooling. As a dog owner I would also like an all-vinyl interior.

"STANDARD LOCKS" !?!? NO POWER JUNK!?!? If you're to cheap to buy a normal car, I understand! But why talk all this crap about real cars. I have a manual Ford ranger, no power what's so ever....I hate it!! The roll up Windows suck!!! I can't even install a decent alarm system because it needs to be power. Anyways just remember what year it is!!! Happy 2012!!!

It would be a sound investment for the auto companies to listen to these comments. I'm looking for a simple 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive pickup truck. Like my old Chevy S-10 (215,000 miles when traded) or my 1989 4 cylinder 2 wheel drive Ford Ranger.(198,000 miles when traded). Simple vehicles for hard times. When you see pictures or clips of vehicles from Europe what do you see? Very small cars and VERY small trucks. With a global economy (meaning our cars are built world wide) and gas approaching $4.00 per gallon when are our auto makers going to wake up. In the words of Earl Pitts, Wake up Uhmerica!

I came across this as I was researching how to change my electric windows to crank windows. GM man is sadly mistaken and obviously works for the company to be so defensive....I have a 2001 Buick LeSabre and am currently dealing with the 6th, that's right SIXTH, window repair. Both front windows, right rear window TWICE, and left rear window once (today it broke again) They DO break, and they ARE expensive to repair! It has nothing to do with over use either as I rarely us my rear windows. IF I get this window fixed, I will have spent a grand total of $1800 on WINDOWS. Otherwise the car is in great working condition. Not bashing Buick, but something is obviously up since I am not the only one having constant electric window issues in their Buick. I plan to ask my mechanic to leave it stuck in the up position and never use it again if changing to manual/crank window is too expensive. Very frustrating!
