You can go to the GE site (http://www.geappliances.com/products/recall/d... ) There is a link that will show you the model and serial numbers of the affected units.

From the site:
On May 16, 2007, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the General Electric Company (GE) announced a recall of 2.5 million GE built-in dishwashers manufactured from September 1997 to December 2001.

I have a GE Nautilus dishwasher that was installed by Champian Homes when the home was built. I have had to have a repair man work on it twice. The first time he said it had loose wires and the second time he said he had to replace a part because I could smell it burning. I saw the part and it was black. First time I paid 49 dollars and change and the second time it was 75.60. Needless to say I got this home late 2003 and have had nothing but trouble with the dishwasher and refrigerator. The GE refrigerator had to have the computer board replaced and cost me 183. and change. Needless to say I had taken out insurance but the only amount I received was 83.00 as they took the rest as a deductable. The last time the dishwasher was fixed was last week. When this dishwasher runs you can hear it all over the house. I can also give you the name and phone number of the man who repaired both of them.

This is the 2nd time I have to repalce my GE Dishwasher. My 1st GE Dishwasher was recalled and I replaced it with my present GE Dishwasher which is now also being recalled. The amount of money GE is offering is a scam. I think GE recalls their dishwashers every so often so they will have more sales.

Try finding a replacement in Bisque!!!!!!!!!! It is impossible and ofcourse no rebate yet either. Why not let us take the $300 and shop for one we can get now?? We went to Home Depot and there is no way you can even order a new one. This will be a long recall issue!
Thanks.

I totally believe this was a scam to retain customers that GE may not have retained otherwise. I know that I definitely would not have replaced my Kenmore with another Kenmore and probably would not have replaced it with a GE had it not been for this rebate. At the time I began this process, GE's recall website did not indicate that the replacement had to be the same brand as the original. I even confirmed with the recall hotline that I could buy a GE to replace my Kenmore. My rebate has now been denied and I fighting with GE customer service about this. So, GE has now managed to sell a new dishwasher at retail price that they probably would not have otherwise.

I suspect that there are several washers not listed in this recall that are fire hazards. The list will expand. We have a washer that is not included but it almost caught on fire and melted several plastic items in the tub area. It was manufactured during this period of time but supposidly is not part of the recall. Yeah right.

It is now 2009 and I was notified of the recall and contacted G.E. in 2007 and gave them all the information regarding the make and model of my dishwasher... I was told I would receive a $300.00 coupon to help replace my current dishwasher,.... still waiting! I am very disappointed in this company. I WILL get my coupon and then I will not buy another G.E. model. This is BAD BUISNESS!

My GE Natilus is junk. We hardly used it. Purchased it with new construction in 2004. GE fridge also went out recently. I am replacing both - but not with GE. I am sick of all the problems with GE. GE product is planned to fail by management at the company. That's my opinon!

We have a Bosch dishwasher that is very good and very quiet that was in our home when we bought it last year. I never had a Bosch before but it is impressive. They recently had a recall notice on an electrical switch installed in several different models and ours was one of the models listed. They sent out a technician and replaced the switch with no charge. We didn't have any problems before and I think it was a precautionary thing. Anyway, it is a very good dishwasher.

It is so scary how often there are kitchen cookware or other kitchen appliances that are recalled! You would think that they would test the appliances several times and places before putting them on the market, but that must not be the case as the producers send them out to market and within a year or so, they are recalling all of them. It's scary how unsafe they can be!

I had a Nautalis dishwasher, it worked fine but it was noisy so I replaced it with a Maytag, great so far. My Kenmore elite microwave is great and has worked fine for 10 years and I love it...true power levels, not pulsed high.
My Kenmore refigerator is over 15 years old and the only problem I had was the defrost heater after 12 years so I can't complain, I replaced it and it continues to work great.
I can not complain about my Kenmore appliances as my clothes washer was about 25 years old and the timer died. I wanted a new washer so I bought a front loading LG, love it as well.
Sorry I can't enter the gripe party.
