House approves housing rescue bill

Great. My tax dollars go to bail out people who were living beyond their means and got zapped for it. Can I find a government program to pay off my credit cards? They promised me low rates at first and then raised them (just like all those folks who bought more house than they could afford).

How much longer can I go on lying to my child?

I've always told her that integrity, honesty and living up to your responsibilities was the path to respect and success.

My wife and I set the example. We negotiated honestly, purchased a home within our means, budgeted our income and met our monthly obligations. It wasn't always easy, but we managed.

Now, not only is irresponsibility glorified in the media, it's sanctioned by the Federal government.

We and every family like ours, have been played. More of our hard earned wages are going to be taken from us and handed over to those who chose to risk their future.

But, you see... they really didn't risk anything. In a huge wealth redistribution scheme, those who worked, struggled and earned their place in the community, now get to support those who didn't.

Honestly, the only thing I can tell my daughter is that paying your own way is a path to self-respect... that's all. To the dead beats of the world, you're a sap. To the government, you're a sucker.

Ain't America great...
