Several??? Sounds like you bought nothing but foreign crap since you
went through "several" or you have no idea how to maintane a car or truck. Oh..and by the way stooped... It's not "fix or repair daily" which means the same thing but "fix and replace" which it sounds like you do with your crap foreign cars anyways.

When all the penny wise folks start "dumping and fleeing" out of their SUV's hopefully I'll be ready for my next one.
$5 gas is no problem as long as it removes 50% of the cars in front of me.
What is a problem is having to put my card in twice at the pump because it shuts off at $75. Sheeesh!

This great article by the trib should be read in conjunjunction with another one appearing today that says Chrysler will discontinue leases starting August 1. It will be amazing to see what will happen at the dealers when a customer turns in a leased truck or suv worth thousands less than predicted. My guess is that the consumer is going to get hammered by shell game tricks designed to reduce the beating the finance companies are taking. You can bet that every scratch and dent they used to ignore will now be tracked by a microscope. It will get so bad that a whole cottage industry will spring up as consumers will hire their own expert appraisers to do battle with the company's appraisers. What fun awaits!

Let me guess, you or one of your parents work(ed) for Ford.

Why else would you be so keen on continuing to reply to my comments on the fact that I along with the majority of the car buying public drives by the Ford dealership versus driving in.

Or is this playing in your head? "I'm sofa king wee tod did?" My guess is the latter.

After the gas crisis in the 70's all of the Japanese auto companies got the message! They focused on the smaller, more efficient vehicles while maintaining a smaller truck division. The "Big Three" didn't get the message and now they're playing catch-up!
Wake up America...bigger isn't always better...at least when it comes to the auto industry!
The oil embargo during the Carter administration should have been a wake up call to all of us. The one thing that Carter did do was to design an energy policy that if it had been followed would have made us self sufficient in energy by now. Instead we got a Republican administration under Reagan that set everything on the back shelf, deregulated banks, air, trucking and you name it, broke the unions, and set big business free to gouge, manipulate and rape the American people.

Like a herd of sheep we blindly followed behind, salivating at the sight of big, powerful cars and trucks and mortgaging our children's future in the name of free markets and free trade. The American people are paying the piper for their ignorance and gulibility and soon big business will pay the piper for their greed.

Are you criticising St. Ronald?

Actually, I agree with you. Many of the problems which we are now facing began with his administraton. Apparently people have forgotten the S & L scandal, the Iran - Contra scandal, and the many other problems for which his administration was responsible. It's easy to see why he was called the Teflon president - nothing stuck.

He's received credit for the collapse of the Soviet Union. Perhaps his actions did cause it to collapse, but only by accident. His increasing military spending caused the Soviet Union to try to keep up thereby bankrupting itself.

Henry Ford dies and goes to heaven. At the gate, the angel tells Ford, "Well, you've been such a good guy and your invention, the car, changed the world. As a reward, you can hang out with anyone you want in heaven."

So, Henry Ford thinks about it and says, "I wanna hang out with Adam, the first man." So, the angel points Adam out to Ford.

When Ford gets to Adam, Ford asks, "Hey, aren't you the inventor of the woman?"

Adam says, "Yes."

"Well, says Ford, "You have some major design flaws in your invention:

1. There's too much front end protrusion.
2. It chatters at high speeds.
3. The rear end wobbles too much.
4. And the intake is placed too close to the exhaust."

"Hmmm...", says Adam, "Hold on." So Adam goes to the celestial supercomputer, types in a few keystrokes, and waits for the results. The computer prints out a slip of paper and Adam reads it.

He then says to Henry Ford, "It may be that my invention is flawed, but according to the stellar computer, more men are riding my invention than yours."
