Yup.. this is what it's like if you're out of work. My husband has been out of work a few months and it's a tough market out there. He's had some interviews, but every time he sends out a resume and follows up with a company he hears things like.. "we've gotten hundreds of resumes for this one position... it will take some time to go through them all." Since the job market is very bad right now employers are being extremely selective. If you don't match almost every qualification they are looking for, they won't even bother with you.

Let's hope the economy improves or there will be more layoffs and even more people looking for work. It's a very scary time.

Yes, there are many people out of work in the Danbury area. Many more than the people running this event realized? Are they that out of touch?(Because they still have jobs.)Realize that things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. It could take years! What is going to happen when people start running out of unemployment benefits and can no longer make car payments, rent or mortgage payments and put food on the table because what meager unemployment benefits they were receiving are exhausted. Thats where we are headed folks, because there are very few jobs available.

What did they expect? The unemployment rate is at 10% in the state. The fair was kinda of a joke. But hey lets keep handing out bonus money to AIG and other failed companies...

I've been out of work since Dec. and maybe only 4 call backs.....

You are only surprised by the turn out if you are employed.

There are large amounts of unemployed or under-employed people in our area. All those who where self-employed who are not eligible for unemployment insurance are not in the count. All those whose businesses have slowed to a halt.

All those people who have left your offices. Where did you think they went? People like to keep their eyes closed...then maybe it will not happen to them.

The organizers of that event are not paying attention to how bad it is.

Fair paying jobs with benefits for all.

It was crazy there yesterday. I got there shortly after 11am and parking was already near impossible. once you got in it could have taken upwards to a hour just to talk to some of the companies. sign of the times. Good luck to all.

If you think it is difficult to find a job now, If the government passes the North American Union not only will have a problem finding a job, The standard of living for every American will be lowered beside the end of the USA as we know it, Click here to see for yourself. We can not sit back and let this happen. http://themopedguys.com

In 2005, WITHOUT any public consultations or debate in Parliament, President Bush, President Fox, and Prime Minister Paul Martin signed the Security and Prosperity Partnership. The SPP, North American Union

I wish all the people who are out of work to finding a new job times are tough especially if you are over 50 employers doesn't want to hire you. I was laid off many times and they discriminate against your age and if you are not bilingual.

Congressman Chris Murphy sent a letter out last week saying new jobs are going to be created in Connecticut by repairing roads and bridges. What a great job stimulus package we have! I'm sure all the construction companies were at the job fair yesterday hiring all those out of work IT, sales and accounting professionals for construction jobs. He wouldn't lie would he?

What an april fools joke.

Agreed. Readers Digest, IBM, and Pepsico. Should all be taxed at 90% for outsourcing jobs to India. Shame on them.

Danbury, and probably the rest of the country, is out of touch with the reality of the situation of how many people are being laid-off and how many are self-employed. Let's face it,the rich people and wealthy companies, are making out since they have the resources to hide their monies. The middle class(working poor) are made shoulder most of the burden.

There is no society that can indefinitely allow a relentless flood of illegal aliens to contravene its laws, violate its sovereign borders, overwhelm its infrastructures and social systems, degrade employment opportunities for its own people, while the massiveness of the illegal invasion constantly degrades America's way of life, culture and language. Why then is that being allow to happen here in America? You may think that the illegal alien protest rallies and school 'walkouts' were spontaneous eruptions, but think again. They were carefully orchestrated by many, many people, groups and organizations that receive megabucks from unions, corporations and foundations and MOST IMPORTANTLY tacitly endorsed by our government. Ask yourself why such insanity reigns?

According to many of the people who regularly post here (and supposedly "defend American values" by hating foreigners)...you must be failing because you made bad decisions and you don't deserve any help at all.

Ever hear of The North America Union?

Most of you don't know that we are about to lose The United States as we know it. The USA, Mexico and Canada are in the process of becoming one country

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Libra

Someone is convinced they're in the right under the Lunar Eclipse, and they don't care how they get their point across. If there's trouble in your neighborhood, get it sorted out by putting your thoughts down in a blog, or on paper. Don't let anyone, even siblings, treat you like this, even if you balk at standing your ground under this moody cloud. Travel plans may be upset, and spiritual pursuits, and dealings with foreigners or people of other cultures is subject to pressure too.
