Give me a break. This company is well run and profitable even in these times. The News Times does its normal hatchet job stringing together a bunch of nothing making it look like fire. If they were doing poorly the last thing they wouldn't pay is payroll taxes. These are an administrative problem from 2005 and have no bearing on the companies performance now. All stores are down the fact that they are profitable counts more than anything. I'd like to see News Times do the same hack job on their own operations, it would be abyssmal. chaz from redding

Ethan Allen has shut down several showrooms and is going through hard times. Since the cycle started over 3 years ago, it's not reasonable to assume that it is a result of the current economy, but they're simply being eroded by an old business model combined with aggressive new competition. I don't think they'll go under, but they ain't what they used to be.
But you're right... the News-Times is going through the same thing, but who would report on it?

Many a craftsman, now losing regular employment, may now find opportunities building and selling their own furniture, rather than working for a foreign company.

CEO of Ethan Allan spoke in May, 2008 to the WSCU undergraduates and pointed to his successful headquarters beyond the Danbury tree full mountains. Economic students need to reflect on the saying "can't tell the forest from the trees". The markets are begging the question, do we have an economy?

"the company is well run..." give me a break, their letting staff go left and right over there... I'm one of them.... and let me tell you, just like most business in america, 1/2 their furniture is made out of the country, Canada or China, then stamped with their logo and said made in the USA, F*&K them!!! Let them go under!

ethan allen is to stupid to notice that the people they have running their districts around the US are completely incompetent. the only people they let go are the ones who actually do the work and understand business. ethan allen will go under due to their stupidity. maybe the SEC should look into the business practices. SOX laws are being violated left and right. maybe we should just call them "enron"
