A tentative dtente may be in the works after a three-hour marathon Devens Enterprise Commission public hearing Tuesday night where the headcount topped 70 people. Full Story

No wonder they are moving jobs out to China to get away from these people. Who in their right mind would want to bring jobs to this area?

It is quite astonishing! Perhaps Evergreen should have consulted with the US Army prior to opening a plant at Devens. The highstrung, hysterical Harvardites constantly called and complained when the Army conducted maneuvers and their slumber was disturbed by the noise. As if they did not know there was an Army base nearby when they moved there. Jim Jones is absolutely right. On the flips side though, Evergreen just thoroughly tucked it to Massachusetts. They received millions in tax breaks to move their business here. Now they essentally told MA "shove it".

Now that the foliage is gone I can see the horses grazing PEACEFULLY at said farm, behind Evergreen Solar. I was thinking the other day, how ever did they stand it when the army was there? Evergreen Solar and the several hundred employees' families are being harassed out of a livelihood when there are zero jobs to go to when Evergreen Solar is harassed out of Devens and bankrupted by legal and compliance fees....thanks Harvard morons!

This is SO predictable! The Purpose of redeveloping Devens is to "protect and enhance the quality of life" in Devens' area. DEC, supposedly our eyes & ears, the independent permitting authority to hold MaDev's feet to the fire, under the "leadership" of Peter Lowitt & William Q. Marshall, has been nothing but a rubber-stamp doormat for every MaD proposal. This issue is only their latest betrayal of The Purpose. Jim DeZ's posture hostile to DEC's mission matches his earlier statement, preposterous to any observer, that they have followed our Devens Reuse Plan.
Kudo's to the town of Harvard for putting up the $1,000 to cross DEC's barrier to even questioning their actions.
Kudo's again for hiring a special attorney to stand up to DEC's arrogance.
Kudo's to harmed neighbors ("receptors") and their friends & relatives who support them in their attempts to get something like public service from our gubernatorial appointees who've lost their way & lost the vision for Devens redevelopment.
Kudo's to Nashoba Publishing, MaD's tenant on our Enterprise Zone, for bringing this to a wider audience.
Evergreen's history on our Enterprise Zone (and now in China) illustrates why the best thing we can do for our entire Commonwealth is to rescind our 3 towns' delegation of our municipal authorities to MaDEC, & tell them, "We'll take it from here." Simply rescinding 2 sections of Ch. 498 of the Acts of 1993 will accomplish that.

Do not blame Jen Benson for this. She, at least, has come to many DEC meetings and has observed Lowitt's chicanery. DEC noise consultants are told by Lowitt and by Nevergreen what to produce to gull the neighbors and the DEC commissioners. He who pays the piper, calls the tune. This mess goes straight to Gov'ner Patrick who has poured our tax dollars into his friend's, Mark Farber's, Nevergreen. Curmedgeon is correct.

Jen Benson did vote to give that power to Deval! So you can thank her.
