But if a teen just practices 'abstinence' everything will turn out just right. This other extreme is also blind and just as damning for the teen.

And we used tax money to teach that!

It's stupid there is even a controversy about this show. If you think high school students aren't having sex then you are an idiot. Plain and simple. The show reflects every day teens that go through peer pressure and having to make adult decisions at a young age. It's was is real in today's society. If parents don't like it tough! Keep your kids in line and watch the show... you may just learn a little about what your teenager is going through

Well, that's the real world. Kids have been having sex and having kids since the dawn of time. It's your duty as a parent to sit your kids down and talk to them about making good decisions.

Sometimes getting to solve problems, takes being blunt about stuff like that, not just sugar coating stuff. Think about it.

Indeed. I know a guy who told me that he started at 14 and impregnated a girl about a year and a half later. And that was back in the early '50s. Case in point.

What a shame...truth is, there was a time when "Little House on the Prarie" DID get high ratings...so, what's changed?

The increasing liberalization of society seems to have brought with it a spike in all sorts of behavior that, a generation or two ago, still had some stigma attached to it.

Today, there are no stigmas about anything. Anything goes in today's liberal society....like the hippie-dippies said in the 60s, "if it feels good, do it!" These pre-teens are just carrying on the legacy of Clinton-Lewinsky, Jamie Lynn Spears, etc.

Many times, correlation doesn't imply causality--but it might in this case.

Bottom line, kids' childhoods end way before their teen years begin. What a shame. The liberal entertainment media makes little grown ups out of them ASAP.

Right-wing retard...blaming the media instead of parental responsibility. Seems like YOU are the one who has been brainwashed. I don't care what is on TV, it is the parents who have the responsibility for keeping their kids aware, educated, and informed. I bet your ideal is a woman in stockings and heels, with a fat pearl necklace doing the housework, her hair perfectly coiffed with crinolines under her dress, waiting for Ward to come home and pound the Beaver.

These women were so stressed out that when Valium came out, they bought them by the truckload...they didn't call them, "mommy's little helper" for nothing.

Those same stereotypical demands on men are what are causing men to kill their families and commit suicide; the demand to perform like a man and provide.

Ask Ted Haggard how HE is coping...what kind of example HE is setting.

Y'all need to get your heads out of the sand, accept some responsibility, and stop blaming everybody else for your inability to raise your kids...hell, you can't even accept responsibility for your own actions...you have to pass them off on a mythical carpenter who supposedly preached for less than 2 years.

It is about time pregnancy and how you get there is discussed on TV so kids understand in their own language.Plus all the adult behavior that is "forbiden territory" nor even mentioned in "polite conversations".

Wow. You missed every single point I was trying to make, so here's a translation for you:

It's precisely BECAUSE of these changes that parents have to be DOUBLY VIGILANT when it comes to monitoring the media that their kids consume. My 10 year old wanted a Beastie Boys CD. With songs like, "Hey, F*** You", he didn't get it. We've also chopped our cable package down to the one without the MTV, BET crap that many kids spend too many hours with.

I am a teacher. Do you know most of my students (7th graders) have seen "Scarface"? SCARFACE? SCARFACE!!!! This is practically a rite of passage for most preteens these days. In the absense of quality parents, or heck, even parents (many raised by overstressed grandparents), these kids suffer from exposure to these types of media. Low academic acheivement, criminal mischief are par for the course for many of these neglected kids.

I'm not fighting for censorship. I would suggest that parents have to fight even harder to monitor what their kids are exposed to.

While there are still parents out there that show that responsibility , the battle of peer pressure vs. parental guidance has become much more difficult during the last several decades .
It makes it harder . There are strong parents out there that can do it , and those that simply don't have the aptitude.

It's not that there shouldn't be a show on tv depicting teens having sex, it's that the show should not glamorize teen sex, or put sex off like it's a very casual thing that has no meaning. Where is the morality of ABC "Family." How dare they put the word "family" in their name. Responsibility, Ethics, and morality have just taken a nose dive out the window of ABC "Dysfuncitional Family." As a parent of an 11 year old, I am truly appalled. The only message this program shows is that sex means absolutely nothing - no emotional or physical connection to anyone, a girl's self-worth is measured by whether or not she has a boyfriend, and even if she does get pregnant as a teen, it won't be too difficult, your friends will still be there, your family will be understanding and everything will work out. Completely unrealistic. This show is the worst I have seen yet.

This is real life...the only reason it is being questioned on TV is because it shows white middle to upper class folks bringing home the teen babies.

Folks go to YouTube and type in "Disney Sex" and watch Mickey and Minnie Mouse and the gang having a orgy that is going on behind the scenes at a Walt Disney Theme Park. Goofy is behind Minnie humping her while grabbing her breast. Mickey is humping a snowman and much more.I wonder if young people are safe working at Theme Parks? I wonder if there is any sexual abuse going on.
We both know that Dollywood is a much safer place since they banned you for peeking into the female cast memebers dressing room. What was your next crime against children gonna be?We BOTH know that you are capable of most anything when YOU sleep with a 15 year old girl.Thank God that they got you out of there when they did.I do wonder sometimes just how many victums that you have had that only you and they know about.I'm only here to post the facts about your sorry azz though and cannot get into assumptions and what i'm posting are the facts. One thing that i have noticed over the years is your unwillingness to defend yourself against such accusations. You will change the subject, talk about teeth, talk about Disney and talk about Dolly but you hardly ever deny.Strange!Hey!We're talking about a convicted child molester though.Nothing should be a surprise!

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
