A debate over ABC Family values

You are part of the problem. Sticking your head in the sand as sixth-graders have sex in the classroom wont make the problem disappear. Going on a forum such as this and posting your ignorant, right-wing comment wont stop 14 year-olds from going on Stickcam and having "cam shows" as they romance hair brushes, mousse cans, and vibrating razors. Thinking that doing nothing is better than ABC showing a series which may become a tool for opening up important dialogues with their teens about sex in today's peer-oriented culture wont stop teen girls from doing "self=shots" of themselves for MySpace and Facebook in order to improve their self-esteem.

You would rather have the problem continue and society degrade even further instead of offering tough solutions to the problem...even if that includes television programs which may be unsettling because they mirror our true society and not the one you THINK exists.

If one does not like a show, TURN IT OFF! If one is smart, intelligent and wants an open dialogue with one's children: WATCH THE SHOW WITH THEM.
But DONT you DARE ASK FOR CENSORSHIP. Censorship is only good when it is self-imposed.
If a parent does not think that their children speak of these things or have never seen these things then the parents are naive and foolish.
How many parents read each and every text message and instant message and hear their children's voice messages?
If one believes that a television show is going to undo all of the teachings at home: Maybe one hasn't taught their children.
Denying that these activities and life styles exist is ignorant and foolish.
I HOPE THAT DISNEY STICKS TO THEIR PRINCIPLES>...Profits or NOT.
Governmental Censorship is a dangerous thing. Ask any one who survived McCarthyism or who is a student of history.
Being liberal or realistic does not mean condoning a behavior. But it is there....
LOOK at how many teens are shot and arrested at school. Watch Entertainment Tonight. Watch the news....16 or 17 year old arrested, or shot or raped.

Talk to YOUR CHILDREN but do NOT silence a show that connects these kids to truth and consequences. I am tired of people who want to control the medium of television. Particularly ignorant parents who leave their children alone so that they can go out or people who simply deny that there are problems THAT CAN BE AVOIDED!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Teens are having sex left and right. My daughter is 15 years old. She told me her class had a debate about what is consider sex and what isn't. 80% of the class didn't consider oral, anal same sex as sex. 97% of her class is sexually active and only 30% of those students parents know about it. Wake up. Parent need to stop being afraid of talking to their children about sex because SOMEONE will and it not the person you would want.

By gum we need a conservative leader like Sarah Palin to stand up against the Hollywood lie that unmarried teenagers are having sex and getting pregnant!

The Americans For Prudish Behavior's watchdog committee seems to be working overtime.

For GOD'S sake, don't let your kids know that teen girls can and do get pregnant. This is the sort of information that parents have to tell their kids. The kids shouldn't be hearing or seeing it told to them by "actors".

Moms and Dads (if they know how to find you) please wake up...your kids are learning about life - much like many of you did.

What is this nation coming to when parents can't expect to keep their kids stupid when it comes to real stuff.....amazing how many dumb people actually attain adulthood.

If you tell a horny teen that sex is to be avoided until marriage, then why is anyone surprised that word definitions are redefined so that their oral and anal activity isn't sex in their minds. Seems logical and reasonable doesn't it?

Go ahead and stick your head in the sand...the whining you hear is the baby your baby had because you couldn't bear the idea of your "child" being a sexual being...and that's the other problem...when you AREN'T around...why not turn it on and then as things occur, ask them some probing questions.
