Although I agree with you that every incumbent politician should be voted out of office this coming election, you're stance that politics and corporations are the evil of America is just silly.

Corporate America creates jobs. Politics & government kill jobs.

Shouldn't you be going back to your Country of Origin? It is obvious you hate America!

this has been going on a long time, not just in Canada. England has a similar program and many studios split there departments between countries. Lucas is outsourcing many jobs to singapore. Holywierd is exceedingly greedy.

Rich knows that cinema is moving away from technology and back toward the story.
wishful thinking.
Technology is not leaving film , it's leaving this country . Most of the work is being shipped off to india and asia. The work coming out of there is half as good but it's also half the price.
Disney has a bad reputation for how it treats employees and it's well deserved .

Poor Marla Fields of Hamilton. She was really counting on the Disney studio to help sell her Sonoma commute train project. Everything she advertised to promote Smart in her marketing campaign has fizzeled out. It's a crying shame, poor Marla, what is she going to do now ? Even SMART has fizzeled out. I hope she and her husband are able to make ends meet up there in the ghetto.
Dumb remark. Marla is a hard working volunteer trying to improve the community. If more people were interested in helping others instead of just making money we all would beneffit.

No job that involves the use of a computer is safe in the United States. Most white collar jobs are at risk since they ALL can now be done anywhere in the world.

If you sit in a cubicle or office and the primary tools of your job are a computer & telephone, you can be off-shored.

This is why the recovery of jobs in the United States will never really come as this deeply damaging recession/depression comes to an end. This has shown most American corporations the light, which is to get rid of American employees as broadly & as quickly as possible.

In my immediate family there are 3 college graduates; 2 are unemployed and one is vastly under-employed working for peanuts & no employee benefits in what is essentially a blue-collar, no-college-required job.

There is now a lot of attention being paid to government jobs because government employment and its associated pay & benefits are all quite high. Government has been the only growth industry, and working in government has become, quietly, the best way to a rich life with whopping salaries and world-class benefits & retirement pensions. The rising pressure to cut government expenses will result in a big round of off-shoring, with government work being shipped to other countries. Again, if the job involves the telephone & a computer it can be done anywhere in the world for MUCH less cost.

Never really was that fond of Disney, but feel sorry for those that lose their jobs because Disney can't make the right business decisions, and has very poor management. Keep those at the top and fire or outsource the REAL workers at the bottom.

Contrary to what a number of people commented (not counting the comments by right and left morons, who will be arguing till the ship sinks and they drown pointing fingers at each other, while doing nothing) there are jobs in Marin and companies that are hiring.

I already know of a couple companies in Marin that are looking to hire the soon to be laid off employees of IMD.

There are also companies already looking to take over the space because it is desirable and not that expensive.

To the rest of the political commentators...

Keep b!tching and moaning about the right and left, it really does help that both sides can't do anything but blame one another, our entire country will be stolen from us while most of you continue to think it's the other sides fault. Pathetic.

Open your eyes and work together for a better future. Or don't and allow petty differences to sink us all.

We'll miss Disney, but they will find another tentant. The Hangers are 100% occupied becasue it is such a great place to work, great views, great community, and in a few years, a good commute by rail.

Puli's in one of his attack phases now since he keeps getting questioned on everything he's posted of late. Don't take it personally, he's just trying to cover for his own shortcomings.
