Don't count on it. The offer is not that appealing.

NWA/DL would be thrilled. An entire staff of minimum wage, no benefit employees.

Then they get just what they want. Minimum wage "rent an agent" that doesn't have a clue and do not speak English.

better yet: all the international flights could be outsourced to foreign FAs. No need to pay a couple of extra bucks an hour to LODs.

DAL has a long history of poor packages as well as bonuses (back when we got them) However the New Delta has been better with their stock grants and the buyout is still way better than the buyouts offered in the 90's.
They have never given much cash to help in a decision. That does make their packages quite weak. Pretty much the people that took the last one took it for the flight benefits and they were just tired of the whole deal. I don't know how many of those type people are still here. The windows are too small to try and find a career type job and of course right now there is much less to choose from job wise than even last time.

stocks are good as long as the stock is a a good one, that will hold its value over time and yield decent dividends. and if you have enough shares. even though all the analysts are saying dal stocks are ones to watch (because they're relatively a bargain now), they've fluctuated quite a lot the past couple of quarters. the past two opec meetings, opec has voted to reduce production to boost sagging oil prices. me, if i were in that situation, i'd rather the cash so i could choose. at the very least, hope folks get to keep their health coverage. that's beats flight bennies anyday.

Sounds like a lot of people in their job are miserable, how can someone be miserable and work in this industry, I think it's time some get a new career. No one forces someone to stay in their job.

"how can someone be miserable and work in this industry,"

You think it is impossible to be miserable in this industry?????
I am not sure what is so difficult to comprehend with the way the industry has declined over the past 2 decades.
Maybe you have not been affected by hub closing and terrible move packages and the tough decisions. That is great for you and I am happy that you came out unscathed so far but others have not been as fortunate as you. My family and thousands of others haven't been as fortunate as yours.
I am able to take a good attitude to work most every day because that is just the way I am. My particular job description does not allow me to have a bad day. I have been able to raise my family and get almost to the point where I am ready to go but I am not quite there I am tired of the constant instability that goes along with this business. I will tell you though the day I can walk out of the airline industry for the last time will be a happy day for me and I will never look back.

Most airline employees love the jobs that they do, and despise the senior executives for whom they do them.

They should, because I believe it is a matter of time before the US airline industry will be in line behind the big 3 automakers asking for handouts from the taxpayer. I hope they all go out of business and some people with ethics retool the industry. I'm fed up with the lot of them.

I took the last one, but noted with disgust that the Northwest deal this time around would have allowed me to leave with full retirement benefits instead of voluntary severance. Atta way Richard! Delta always one to cheap out on its people to the bitter end. I would LOVE to find a lawyer to start a class action suite on this one.

Be very careful with buyouts, I took one several years ago. Promised healthcare until I die.....will guess what they took it away, after I was retired. Now it takes half my pension to buy medical for me and my wife. They tried to take medical too, but didn't get it.........So be careful.

I'm ready and willing to resume my rightful position as a Delta B-777 or B-747-400 SENIOR Captain that was taken away from me with the closure of Eastern Airlines in 1989.

Can't wait for the Delta pilot to leave!

Do what I did and move to China. Leave all the idiots there for a group that you know are idiots. It makes life alot better. Now I just take every dollar I can and wait for retirement. I don't worry about getting a paycheck because the Chinese own everything and have tons of money. Do half the work that I used to do at my last US major carrier and make twice as much!

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Libra

You have a tremendous amount of nervous energy today and you need to find positive ways of expressing it, otherwise it could make you rather irritable and restless. Ideally, you should do something physical, such as going for a brisk walk, cleaning the house while working up a sweat or getting your money's worth out of the gym. Don't take out your frustrations on people who don't deserve them.
