Cablevision sucks. Will they have different "bundles" - one price to read headlines and comics, another price to read classifieds, another price to read sports. Just like showing "The Godfather" every week ad infinitum - and people PAY for this??????? I hope Verizon kicks the sh*t out of Cablevision.

Did they get this money from the over 300 million dollars in tax breaks from N.Y.C. for purchasing Madison Square Garden, or did they just get from price gouging their customers. my guess would be both !!!!!!
I know they got some of it from laying people off in 2002, 2003 and 2004...I was one of them. I hope the Dolans sleep well at night, but I keep thinking about Lustgarten (pancreatic cancer) and Tatta (bone cancer)- what goes around comes around. Amen.

I believe this purchase will allow Cablevision and the Dolan family the opportunity to take an already outstanding publication and make it even better. From scanning the posts here I can see most of you disagree -but, I'm sure it is safe to assume each and every person who has posted is a worthless, jobless, ignoramus. Not including myself, of course. Furthermore, none of you will be invited to my house for fireworks on the Fourth next year and, Mr. Aquaman, I am on to you and know you have been stealing Lifetime television for several years now. Sleep lightly, my friend.
Hi Mr. James,
I'm very interested in technology and I noticed your posts are originating in Michigan. You're from Long Island though. I never gave Topix my zip code and was never given the opportunity to do so. So Cablevision is determining my town from what is known as my IP address, my computer's address to the rest of the Internet. Anyway with all this speculation about Cablevision would they go so far as to alter your home town? I guess my question is just this, are you writing this from Michigan or Long Island? Thank you very much.

Oy vey, the Dolans!
Newday was never a great paper, but we were at least comfortable with it. Now, judging on past performances, it's about to finish in last place and stink so bad that even the season box holders won't show up.

And Cablevision SUCKS.

Excellent question Ray. To answer, I must first explain, briefly, how the technology works. Analog messages are converted from the characters you see here to a series of 0's and 1's that your computer can understand. They are then packaged and taken via donkey through a series of bridges and routers that connect all of us and make up the world wide web. Now, when the message finally reaches it's destination, your computer "asks" the donkey, virtually of course, where the message came from. The IP address listed ultimately depends upon what the donkey says and, more specifically, how much Cabo Wabo he has consumed along the way. So, to answer your question, Long Island and yes, yes they would.

I am sure they will run it like cable TV. One large fee for the paper, if you want to read or access the online sports you must pay extra....Travel, that requires special access at $5.95. Plus you would need a new converter to actually see the papers print......a mere $9.99 a month.....

so will we they restrict access our access to this site like they do channel 12 news.com and will they raise our cable rates too?
YOU TOOK THE WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH!!!!!! God forbid an out of townee or a NON subscriber to Cablevision can't look up something simple as school closings in say "Lake Grove" (not like that will ever happen) The DOLANS SUCK and even though I like newsday because its LONG ISLAND, Newsday.com is a pain in the neck to navigate and frustrates me with the Pop-up ads they run.

Well now you can forget any objective or postive articles to be written about the Islanders. They could win the Stanley cup and they'll still print 3 pages of useless Rangers articles. Hmmm now that I'm done with Newsday which tabloid do I choose "The Post or the Daily News"?

I better find my library card if there's going to be any chance for me to find something good to read.
Newsday has been a useless rag for decades, what could Dolan possibnly do to make it worse?

Obviously you haven't been reading Newsday for a while since it's been years since a Ranger fan could find an objective article about the Rangers in Newsday without microfiche.
