I just visited Citrix Systems web site..

On page..
http://www.citrix.com/English/aboutCitrix/emp...

Clicking on the link on the right hand side of the page
titled .. "Citrix jobs--North America"...
results in "page not found"..

Not to be deterred.. I found functional job search links elsewhere on the same page. So I clicked away and decided to look for these "talented" FL positions they claim to be in need of..

Searching for ALL Florida jobs.. yields a total of 72 openings.. Of which, less than 10 positions appear to require significant technical skills...(Compensation levels not listed on those job listings.)

Meanwhile.. according to the http://www.flcdatacenter.com/

Citrix Systems has filed Labor Certification Applications to import foreign tech workers into South Florida.

74 in Fed FY 2006..(Oct 05 -> Sept 06)
72 in Fed FY 2007..(Oct 06 -> Sept 07)
?? in Fed FY 2008..(Oct 07 -> Sept 08)(no data)

I.E. Citrix is an H-1B addicted employer..

If Citrix wants and needs talented workers it would be a good idea for them to hire and train local people to do the job.

There are a lot of locals who they can hire. With Motorola's massive layoff, there should be ample ITs and engineers around. I believe Citrix wants to hire foreign workers for cheap.

What a load of garbage. I have 4 previous years of experience as an IBM employee (lost my job because it was given to a guy from India who could barely speak English but cost half what I did), and 2 Masters Degrees (an MBA and an M.S. in Information Systems). I recently applied to 3 different positions at Citrix for which I was clearly qualified for and appeared to be a good fit. All 3 resulted in e-mails from Citrix HR saying "thanks for your interest but we have carefully considered your resume and your qualifications and at this time have decided to pursue other candidates for this position".

So if they have other candidates who are more qualified than me, I think that speaks pretty well for the local talent pool. Though something tells me that their idea of "qualified candidates" possess one thing that I don't have ... a foreign H1-B Visa.

Until the next administration does something to stop this nonsense, such as taxing or penalizing companies who outsource a large part of their work (instead of GIVING them tax breaks) like most countries do to protect their own people, this will just get worse and worse. Citrix is probably just saying this as a veiled threat so that the state or the county will give them even more subsidies or tax breaks than they already have (which I'm sure is plenty) to stay here.

There are 69 positions open in Ft. Lauderdale and is only the beginning of the year. 1st quarter is not over. Yes, growth is happening and much is happening in California. ft. Lauderdale headquarters and jobs will stay in the state of Florida. Does Citrix have challenges recruiting? Maybe, but so does the whole entire IT industry. Citrix is still fairly new, so choosing the "ideal" candidate for the positions is something that they are willing to take their time, instead of hiring someone that they will be replacing in a year.

Truth: Citrix does not have a direct compititor. The competitors are in some of their markets, but how many companies do you know that does all that Citrix does? Example: virtualization, application networking and application sharing.

Articles like the ones on the Sun come about when people start talking because the get scared, and people get scared when they are uncertain or have nothing to talk about.

Good luck, RIMM, Foxconn, Freescale, and General Dynamics are coming to South Florida.... CITRIX should stop their retarded interview process, and understand that engineers may not be interested that much on a paid version of a VNC client.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Scorpio

Today's Lunar Eclipse at the Full Moon stirs up powerful emotions during the next two weeks (as it has done since the Gemini Solar Eclipse last month), and it may not be a very pleasant experience. Are you feeling rather compulsive and obsessive? Financial issues could be a problem,, especially if they appear to threaten your sense of emotional security. Don't let jealousy or envy make you do things that will set other people against you.
